A. Dominick did a fabulous job bringing all these bright colors and bold patterns together. Kelley wanted lots of bright pinks, fun patterns, and water toned blues to reflect the water view. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kelley, the bride, loves color and pattern! Each little detail in her design was inspired by her own aesthetic and the beautiful Gibson Island Club. The linens from Furbish Studio are tablecloths that the bride and her family use in their home entertaining and the stars in the tent are light figures our bride has in her home. Aimee Dominick, the planner, loved getting to play with patterns and colors to create a bright and fun day, perfect for the happy couple! They danced under a beautiful tent from Loane Brothers and guests loved beautiful Escort Card Wall by Brightly Ever After.
Gibson Island has always been a special place for Kelley since she grew up going there in the summer with her family. Her grandparents started the tradition of renting a home on the island and the family and her cousins would all spend the majority of the summer there. Fast forward to her adult life and Gibson Island is about an hour from DC where Chris and Kelley met. She took him to GIC one summer and he too fell I love with it. While Chris and Kelley kept an open mind in the wedding venue search process, they kept going back to GIC as a place that now meant something to both of us. So it was perfect!
Kelely loved mixing color and bold prints to create a busy and fun vibe. She didn’t want it to be like every other wedding, and this vision definitely made it stand out. She also wanted to make it seem like one big dinner party. Elevated, but not too stuffy. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From Kelley:
I had a girls holiday brunch on a Saturday and Chris had randomly asked me to get a mid to late afternoon drink at Officina at the Wharf in DC, which was where we had our first date. It was an unseasonably warm Saturday in December so we sat on the roof. When I arrived, we caught up on our day and then Chris left to take a call. When he came back, I started blabbing a story about who knows what and he “lunged at me” and got down on one knee and the rest is history. After the proposal, we hung out on the rooftop and walked around the wharf before calling our families to share the news. Then, we went to dinner just the two of us at a restaurant downtown and had what was one of the best meals of our lives. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food was provided by Gibson Island club. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Sophie Felts is just phenomenal. She brought together lots of colors and textures. The reception tables had purples, pinks, and oranges. The lemons in the tall floral arrangements was a perfect finishing touch. Some of the ginger jars actually belongs to Kelley’s parents (some purchased too).[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake had sugar flowers that reflected the florals that Sophie Felts used. A. Dominick placed the cake so that the guests would see Kelley and Chris cutting the cake with the bay in the background, which was simply beautiful. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The officiant is bride’s godfather and dad’s best friend [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The getting ready matching PJs were from Printfresh.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From Kelley:
Welcome frame for guests to sign: my dad and I started a burgee collection a few years ago and it’s grown quite a bit. Chris and I have since carried on this tradition at our home. Instead of a welcome book, I thought it would be fun/different/sentimental to have our wedding logo on a burgee and have guests sign a matte around the burgee that we could ultimately frame. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]From Kelley: Invitations/prints: some of the patterns were pulled from favorite fabrics and wallpaper. My mom is a very creative person, so I’ve grown up around fabric samples and fun prints, which served as inspiration. One of my favorite places in the world is The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs West Virginia, which was decorated by Carlton Varney who is famous for his bold use of color and mixing of prints. He also designed The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach and The Grand Hotel in Michigan. I tried to mimic some of this in our designs, especially the paper materials. (Funny fact: the squiggly line print was literally adapted from curtains in my parents’ den in my childhood home). [/field]
