[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Mackenzie and Jason were originally supposed to wed in Naples, Florida in April 2023 – but Hurricane Ian hit the entire Southwest Florida region in the fall of 2022, and their venue was destroyed. When it became clear that their original venue wouldn’t be ready in time… they decided to pivot their plans altogether and have their ceremony in Italy in the summer of 2023. They still wanted to host a big fun wedding reception for family and friends, so instead of having it in Naples, Florida they moved it to the bride’s parents home country club in Oklahoma. And with that – the entire design plan changed too. They brought on the planning team of Annie Brady Design to bring Italy to Oklahoma.
From the Planner… I start all of the designs the same for all of our couples, with an in-depth questionnaire. Get to know them, what they love, what they want to achieve, who they are. We decided after our initial meeting we would do an homage to their destination wedding that would be taking place in Italy. We would focus on a more southern Italian influence, with bright, saturated colors and balance that with what I call Nona’s Sunday dinner aesthetic. Long tables, printed fabrics, wooden tables and chairs as accents for warmth and a counter balance to the bright colors. After reading the couples questionnaire and getting to know them better, I understood the importance of their fur babies. I wanted to have a certain look with the fabric that went with the concept and decided we would design our own fabric for the head table and linen and for the panels that would be hung in the venue. At that point it wasn’t much of a leap to realize including their pups in the design was a no brainer.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]From the Photographer… Although they didn’t have a ceremony on this day – the couple wore their wedding gown and tuxedo (that they wed in in Italy) to their cocktail hour with guests, and the opted to change into fun “party” outfits for their reception. We knew this wasn’t their wedding day – and they just wanted to have a lot of fun celebrating…so getting some portraits in their “fun party” attire was perfect![/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]We created food stations, reminiscent of street vendors and lounge seating to capture the relaxed feelings that come with being with loved ones. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a destination wedding, by bringing a little bit of Italy back to Oklahoma.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Because this was their hometown reception, we could have more fun with it, be more creative, have a more whimsical design. Guests would walk through a pink latticed floral immersive garden, with a bar to get to the main part of the venue. It’s always fun to have an entrance that is enticing and sets the tone and expectations for the evening. Once inside, we wanted to create cheerful warmth and soaring happiness. The draping style was fresh and also reminiscent of the Italian countryside. The florals with saturated colors were the perfect accents to a beautiful palette.[/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]From the photographer: One of our favorite details was the fun Aperol Spritz cart. It served as a design focal point, a functional bar for their signature drink – the classic “Aperol Spritz” and was a fun homage to their Italian nuptials.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]La Dolce Vita (translated “the sweet life”) was the theme carried throughout the entire day. From their invitation, to drink stirrers, and as the prominent detail featured on their custom vinyl wrapped flooring[/field]
