Proposal Story

Erik and I met each other in our early 20s. I was working at Michael Kors at the time and Erik came in to buy a watch from me; I was completely smitten, but didn’t think I’d see him again. Then, a few weeks later, a mutual friend introduced us at a party. That night we went dancing and afterwards, I made breakfast at midnight for our friends. I always say he fell in love with me because I make a killer breakfast. Pierogis with bacon and eggs was the secret recipe, and the rest was history. When Erik proposed, he gave me a ring with a ruby center stone, which is the birthstone for July. We are both July babies (where are all my loving cancers at?!), so I always knew I wanted a ruby stone for my wedding ring. It’s also vintage, which was important to me — I wanted something unique and I love the idea of thinking about what kind of stories the ring held before me. He picked it out all on his own at an estate store in downtown Anchorage. I love it. After venue shopping for a while, we chose Harvest Inn in St Helena in short because we love wine country! We wanted a place where we could gather our friends and family for great food, beautiful views, and a really, really good glass of wine. We’re both very close with our parents and making them feel recognized on our big day was something we put a lot of thought into. One special touch I loved was that our specialty cocktails were named after each of our dads and my stepdad. One of my favorite parts of the night was hearing my friends shout, “I’ll have another George!” a dirty vodka martini named after my step-dad.

The Details
Food & Drink

Working with Kailee and Erik was so much fun from start to finish! Their vision was clear, and their priorities were upscale food, an open bar, and great wine, something we fully support.

Florals & Decor

The stunning florals from Fig & Vine had a very specific and luxurious look, featuring a mixer of baby's breath, orchids, and white roses.

Wedding Cake
In lieu of a wedding cake, the couple poured champagne into their champagne tower together and encourage the onlookers to come and take a glass to celebrate.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
The couple had a live five piece Jazz Band at the al fresco dinner and a DJ for open dancing when the party moved inside.
