A Whimsical Palette and Snowcapped Mountains at Devil’s Thumb Ranch
The Planning
The Inspiration
The inspiration behind this shoot was my admiration for the soft etherial look that gardens emit. I wanted to mix that component in with the rustic look of a Colorado ranch wedding venue and make it something unique and beautiful.
The Venue
Devil's Thumb Ranch was the absolute perfect backdrop for this design! This was intentionally set in early June, when the grass is newly green, almost lime green, from being so new and fresh in Spring. The combination with the snowcapped mountains in the background gave it an almost surreal moment straight out of your dreams!

Florals & Decor
Every design detail was very intentional. I always love creating different looks for the tables and having them fit together cohesively into one polished look. This was no different. For the indoor table, we used a blue floral tablecloth with lavender napkins. The table settings are a little more traditional and clean so it doesn't feel overwhelming agains the patterned linen. For the outdoor table, I wanted the table to balance out the beautiful blue sky and used a velvet light blue linen. It's literally the same color as the sky was that day and worked beautifully balancing out the colors! Since the linen was plain, I had a little more fun with the place setting using a patterned charger and plates. Had both tables been next to each other, they would balance each other out wonderfully because the one thing that brought everything together was the soft and etherial flowers! Different hues of pink, lavender and cream against the greenery of the flowers brought the greens from the grass out and in turn is pleasing to the eye. I can never stop starring at this complete look as it was perfect for the venue and the mountain backdrops.
Favorite Design Element
My favorite design elements were definitely the outdoor tablescape. It just looks so good against the Colorado mountain range. Its as if it belongs there! The lounge was also a fascinating touch to the scenery and the cake trio should definitely make an appearance at weddings more often. The flowers of course help it all pull together nicely in one perfectly cohesive look!
Tips To Pull Off The Look
Don't be afraid of patterns and color! Play around with it! It'll surprise you when you actually see it all together! I always like to look at things in person to make sure it's cohesive so don't be afraid to do mockups with your rental company or ask your wedding planner for a mockup appointment!
