A Coastal Wedding Weekend for Two High School Sweethearts
Lauren and Parker wanted to embrace a classic Southern coastal wedding with elegant blue, white, and gold elements. Their vision was made a reality in the Delegal room at the The King & Prince. Each table was adorned with fun patterned table cloths and exploding with gorgeous florals from A Courtyard Florist.
Lauren always envisioned herself in a simple wedding gown, so when it came time to go dress shopping she only made one bridal store appointment at Belleame Bridal Houston hoping to find "the dress." She fell in love with the Essex gown by Allison Webb, a strapless trumpet gown with delicate beaded embroidery, cuff neckline, and of course, an embroidered bow for a southern touch. Lauren had a custom veil made to compliment her gown with delicate beading scattered with touches of lace. Classic Manolo Blahniks were added for Lauren's, "something new."
It is no secret that blue looks great on everyone and because of this, the decision to wear blue satin gowns for the bridesmaids was easy. Each gal had the opportunity to select one of two gowns from the Show Me Your Mumu bridal line and each wore it beautifully too!
Lauren and Parker chose a "Watermelon Margarita '' as a signature drink presented with a sugar rock rim (how the grooms orders his margaritas) to bring a touch of Tex-Mex to the island, including a watermelon twist as the two tied the knot in the summertime. Hors d’oeurves included a range of seafood and southern options including Mini Shrimp And Lobster Rolls, Classic Chicken & Waffles, along with Mini Quesadillas, of course! Usually choosing a menu can be difficult; however, for Lauren and Parker choosing Italian food was one of the easiest wedding planning choices they made, serving Penne Pasta Alla Vodka with Italian Meatballs and Classic Alfredo with Julianne Chicken. The groom, along with his father and brother enjoy grilling together, the two offered a casual Shish Kabob station with Honey Garlic & Lime Marinated Scallop & Prawn Kebobs,Thai Peanut Chicken, Snow Pea & Basil Kebobs, and Hoisin BBQ Glazed Beef Kebobs. To end the night, the bride wanted to include a fun way to celebrate her Mother in Law that recently passed. Patricia Smith was notorious for opening up her home to friends and family, and always had homemade baked goods and a cocktail ready for guests. The "Late Night Snack," included homemade chocolate chip cookies from Ruby Lu's Bakery coupled with Espresso Martinis presented in a frosted martini cup.
Sweet Piper, Lauren & Parker's golden retriever pup did not get to partake in the weekend festivities, however her image lived one throughout many of this wedding's details. Particularly, Piper was featured on both the bride and groom's cakes. Parker notoriously loves cookie cakes so the A&M cake was a two tiered cookie cake.
When choosing a wedding venue, Parker and Lauren settled on The King & Prince in St Simons Island, GA. As the bride's family has been going to the Island to visit family for years, along with many family events at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, the venue and location held such special memories. When Lauren first brought Parker to the Golden Isles, he fell in love with the coastal small town with its friendly, warm, and welcoming sunny beaches, along with its whimsical oak trees, rich with history. Lauren and Parker were so excited to share the island with their closest family and friends, as the two decided to take a leap of faith and have a coastal destination wedding from Houston, Texas.
