Both grooms wanted to incorporate their cultures into the wedding, especially Ameya’s Indian background. He even flew to India to pick out traditional outfits for himself and Ryan for the wedding. Paired with traditional accessories and shoes, they had a few people in Lake Como ask if they were some sort of royalty! Besides their Indian attire, to really be able to party more comfortably, they then changed into their western suits for dinner time and dancing.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The grooms had private vows during their ceremony. It was a very emotional moment for everybody attending as it showcased all the issues they have encountered for being a same sex couple in the USA. Their relationship started at age 18, now 14 years ago. Ryan expressed his feelings of remembering how they weren’t even legally allowed to be together. His vows ended with a positive tone as he stated: “And look at us now, surrounded by both of our families, on a location we could once only dream of, getting married to each other. Love wins”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The street in front of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo was closed to the public and vehicles by the local police, so our grooms could enter their wedding day on a horse, as an Indian tradition called Baraat. A baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom involving live music and dancing. While it does not hold religious significance, it is an important custom nonetheless. News went in Lake Como that two princes were getting married and a lot of tourists stopped to see the show. The next day, walking down the streets of Bellagio, people there even asked if they were the Royals, seeing the Henna on their hands and the hands of their guests. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The grooms got ready together in their room to have a quiet moment the two of them before all the events of the day would start.[/field]
