A Vibrant Wedding Celebration at Villa Miani Inspired by the Eternal City

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette included hues of blue, sage green, and Avery’s beloved favorite… orange. Given that orange trees grow on practically every other street corner in Rome, it felt practically effortless to include this vibrant color throughout the wedding weekend in the artwork, floral, and tabletop elements. [field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Even before ever selecting the venue or settling on Rome as the choice of destination for the wedding, Avery and Devin had a clear vision for their celebration. Their preference was to host an intimate ceremony and dinner party somewhere in Italy, where the surroundings would be uniquely Italian. After all, why jet off to Europe to get married if you end up doing so in an uninspired or uninteresting room, garden, or terrace that could just as easily be found in any American city? The historical significance, architecture, and epic sunsets in Rome made this city the perfect choice, and Villa Miani, situated atop Monte Mario, the highest hill in Rome, gave everyone the most incredible panoramic views of some of the most historic and stunning architecture in all the world. For the welcome party, we selected the Secret Garden at Hotel de Russie, a five star luxury resort located in the heart of Rome. The location gave guests a delightful excuse to stroll the short distance to and from the party, taking in the sights of nearby landmarks such as Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps. Once both venue selections were finalized, we had such fun infusing each event and touch point of the guest experience with Avery and Devin’s color palette and overall vibe, while leaning in to Italian culture, aesthetics, and culinary excellence. [section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]For the casual welcome party at Hotel de Russie, pizzas and pasta were served family style. The menu included Italian classics such as margherita pizza, meatballs with tomato sauce, and cacio e pepe. The following evening for the wedding night, guests enjoyed an assortment of tray-passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour, before sitting down to a beautiful coursed personal preference dinner, where they were served their choice of seabass, pork filet, or beef. [/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]On the wedding day, we partnered with the talented team at Studio M, to create an organic, textural floral look that paired beautifully with patterned linens and our color palette. The flowers included white delphinium, campanula, ranunculus, peonies, and sweet peas, with a variety of foliages and delicate green hanging amaranthus. We chose to use only white flowers for the ceremony, but let the color palette build as a crescendo throughout the evening, adding tan and orange taper candles to the dinner table, along with orange asclepia flowers, fresh orange citrus fruits, and a beautifully vibrant orange Oscar De La Renta china pattern. Avery loves classic stripes, which we included throughout the celebration via the table linens and stationery elements, including the menus and place cards. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, guests enjoyed an abundance of desserts and Italian treats after dinner, selecting from a display that included créme brulèe with caramel sauce, profiteroles, bread pudding, chocolate Bavarian cream, fruit tarts, chocolate fondant, coffee and amaretti cookie parfaits, and more. [field title=”Special Detail #1″]Avery, Devin, and their family love to play card games. It was a no brainer to include custom decks of cards in the welcome bags that were distributed to guests upon arrival in Rome. We used watercolor artwork that Avery painted herself as the back of the cards and to include on the card boxes. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]For the invitation suite and ceremony programs, we included Devin’s original family crest. [/field]
