At first, Chicago residents Ashley and Jeff thought the Windy City might be the perfect place to tie the knot, but Ashley’s ties to San Diego and Jeff’s epic proposal there quickly changed their plans. After falling in love with Park Hyatt Aviara, they tapped Erica Vanco of Estera Events to craft all the details. The celebration centered around bright florals with a modern twist, and the theme extended beyond the beautiful flowers to intricate decor rentals provided by Concept Event Design and San Diego Interior Foliage. The ceremony took place at Park Hyatt Aviara’s stunning Palm Court, in the heart of the resort and surrounded by ornate architecture, palm trees and a stunning view of the Pacific coastline. The reception took place in the Avalon Ballroom and featured Ben Mallare Events & Entertainment signature seven-piece party band.

Park Hyatt Aviara catered the event, with a team led by Erica Ryberg and Emily Koch. Ashley and Jeff selected Park Hyatt Aviara’s signature entree: natural filet of beef and Maine lobster tail. The entrée was accompanied by cremini mushroom sauce, basil beurre blanc, seasonal vegetables and scalloped potatoes. The couple’s signature cocktail was an Espresso Martini with cold brew, Kahlúa, and Titos (garnished with a coffee bean, of course.) Later in the evening, Ashley and Jeff treated guests to late night bites with miniature pizzas and miniature grilled cheese sandwiches: perfect late night snacks!

Lily of Lily Roden Floral Studio says, “Ashley was so fun because she was not afraid of color! She loved the look of bougainvillea, as it reminded her of her time in California and knew she wanted to see it on her wedding day. We used a lot of fuchsia, hot pink, blush and peach florals. We accented every arrangement with silk bougainvillea. Her bouquet featured a spring bounty of garden roses, ranunculus, Scabiosa and Jasmine. We tried to repurpose as much from ceremony as possible. The aisle pieces became the centerpiece of the band stage! It was fun to see so much color against a beautiful white dance floor.”

Smooth, sweet and simple! Park Hyatt Aviara‘s Pastry team crafted a classic champagne blackberry cake: blackberry cake, blackberry preserve, and mascarpone cream.

The bridal party entered the ballroom to much fanfare as Ben Mallare Events & Entertainment performed the 90s smash “California Love.” Ashley and Jeff shared their first dance surrounded by cold sparklers, cruising through a custom mix that included “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey, “Sway” by Michael Bublé, and “Sweet Lovin'” by Sigala. After toasts concluded, the band took guests on a whirlwind tour of dance favorites before switching over to a Ben Mallare DJ to round out the evening.
