A Classic Palette and Wicker Accents in Lowcountry

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Overall our design was again to lean into the natural beauty of Palmetto Bluff. The gorgeous tree's that are all over the property, the tropical greenery that takes over in the summer and the oyster beds along the May River that are a staple of the Lowcountry. We wanted to elevate all of these natural elements while still being approachable.
Proposal Story
Sam Edwards and Conley Grayson met their first day at the University of Alabama. The two dated all through college, but post graduation had to move to different states for their careers. Sam proposed to Conley Grayson so they could make long-distance dating a thing of the past and begin their marriage story together in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
For her gown, Conley Grayson wanted something unique but timeless. Nardos Design sketched and created her dream gown. The high neck made the gown her own and the petal appliqué made Conley Grayson look like she was floating down the aisle.
Bridesmaid Dresses
Conley Grayson envisioned her wedding day beside the May River under the live oak trees and Spanish moss. She wanted her bridesmaids’ dresses to accentuate the lowcountry’s natural beauty and chose simple champagne cowl neck dresses.
The Details
Food & Drink
Between the ceremony and reception, cocktail hour embraced the breathtaking Bluffton scenery during ‘Golden Hour.’ Guests were entertained by the Hallelujah Choir, Act of Congress from Birmingham and The Royals, along with other little surprises. A ‘ring for a drink’ wall created a special experience when ordering the couple’s signature drinks. Guests could order a Montgomery Mule where Sam is from, an Arkansas Arnold Palmer where Conley Grayson is from, or a Charleston Fizz which is where they reside today.
Florals & Decor
We wanted our floral and decor to lean into the laid back and approachable-ness of the Lowcountry while still being really elegant and clean. We mixed varying shades and patterns of rattan while keeping a uniform look of flowers in vases instead of a mixed compote look. We really wanted each element on the table to speak for itself while still having a beautiful layered look that you are able to achieve at home. We brought the natural palms, greenery and oyster shells in in creative ways that served as little surprises for all of their guests.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was four tier white fondant with fresh flowers whimsically growing out of the base. Each guest was served a duet of flavors, the Montage's Palmetto Cake which is a Bourbon Soaked Vanilla Sponge with Bourbon Milk Jam Crème, Shortbread Crumble topped with a Caramel Milk Chocolate Ganache. The second was called the Yellow Hathorne composed of Dark Chocolate Cake, Peanut Butter Mousse, Peanut Butter Cups and a Milk Chocolate Ganache.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
During cocktail hour, the guests were surprised with a beautiful rendition of "The Blessing" performed by the Hallelujah Choir and Act of Congress
