Simplistic Elegance In Greece With A Classic Blue And White Color Palette

The wedding colors chosen were exactly what someone would expect to see at a Greek island wedding. Make a short time travel and follow your Mamma Mia! dremas. Olive branches and pinches of white florals (oxypetalium) were used to both the church and venue decoration, while the white and blue stationery completed the overall design, keeping it simple and elegant.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]As the island has its own unique character, the bride wanted to enhance its natural beauty and highlight the simplicity of the island.

The vibe that inspired the overall design was to make it feel like a large family gathering, a real Greek experience that the guests coming from abroad had never experienced before. The story behind the location is this. Our beloved bride, coming from Nafpaktos, moved to San Fransisco when she was young. Years after, and so in love, she decided to come back to her favorite island where she used to have during her summer breaks![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The wedding took place at Trizonia island, in Greece. The vybe of the day was Greek and simple. Our bride chose to wear an vintage yet elegant dress which was totally handmade. Crisp white with a clean long line and amazing sewed floral details.

The bride chose to follow a total vintage look and you know what, she totally nailed it![/field]

[section title=”The Details”]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Foodwise, “Fakalos / Talks Catering” prepared a Greek style buffet menu, titled ‘It’s all Greek to me’.

All choices were based on Greek cuisine, using exceptional Mediterranean ingredients and extra virgin olive oil.

“Horiatiki” salad,

eggplants “Imam”” – cooked the traditional Constantinople way – and spinach pie with hand-crafted “phyllo”-pastry & feta cheese.

Alongside, there was seafood such as fresh calamari stuffed with rice and herbs, ovencooked anchovies with fresh tomato and octopus slowly cooked with “kokaria” (small onions).

For main course, there were spit-roasted lambs, slowly cooked on a rotisserie over charcoal fire.

This is a typical Greek way of cooking that goes back to ancient Athens, when the Greeks would sacrifice animals to be favoured by their Gods!

For dessert, the newely weds had chosen ‘Pavlova’. Although this is not a traditional Greek recipe, the couple chose it for their wedding menu and mentioned that “this should be the trademark of Fakalos / Talks Catering”!

This is a “meringue cup”, filled with creme patisserie, fresh strawberries and homemade syrup topped with icing!

As for a later dessert, traditional “loukoumades” were served. These are small round-shaped doughnuts, deep-fried on site, served with pine honey and crushed walnuts![/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Olive branches and pinches of white florals (oxypetalium) were used to both the church and venue decoration, while the white and blue stationery completed the overal design, keeping it simple and elegant. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was cut just before our beloved newly weds dance to their all time favourite tune![/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]My favorite detail was the couple’s personality. Kind and warm people that wanted to celebrate their wedding in Greece with all their beloved ones. Family and their closest friends flew from all over the world to celebrate for their love![/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Another amazing detail that truly moved me were the earrings and all the fine and vintage jewelry our beloved bride wore. They belonged to her beloved grandmother and shared with us that she could not left them off her wedding outfit. Those kind of stories are the ones that make us think that the wedding is not only about the fashion, it’s also about the family and the emotions. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]As a photographer and nostalgic person, I have always had a thing for places that made us time travel to the old world romance. To the days, when men were still gentlemen and women were princes. To the days when villages were still full of people, movement and happiness. My third special thing from this wedding celebration, was the island. The island’s picturesqueness, the island’s purity, the island’s architecture. If you haven’t been to Greece and especially Trizonia island, then you totally should.
