You Won’t Believe This Stateside Lavendar Farm Isn’t Actually in the South of France

The Planning
The Inspiration
The inspiration for our day was to make this editorial look like a real wedding day in the south of France. The French lavender fields inspired us and so we played into the lavender farm/garden theme by adding lots of colors, textures and patterns. We even had the attendees dress as wedding guests and they really showed up!
The Venue
The venue, Hope Hill Lavender Farm, is a quaint little family run lavender farm nestled in the hills of central PA. The owners open up their farm every spring/summer for guests to enjoy leading up to the time when the lavender is ready to be hand harvested. The rolling hills behind the rows of lavender made for the most serene setting for this day. Of course we sprinkled bits of lavender into different elements of the day. We served lavender cocktails, the owner, Wendy made us a batch of her delicious lavender lemonade as well as lavender cheesecake which we served our attendees for dessert and our stationer, Letterland Studio even created lavender wax seals for the stationery. We also purchased some lavender items from the farm store and gifted them to our attendees upon arrival.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
The main wedding gown that the bride wore all day was a Justin Alexander strapless soft tulle ball gown with dimensional appliqués. We had a vision of the bride frolicking through fields of lavender with lots of dress to add movement. The dimensional appliqués were the perfect touch for the garden themed wedding and the groom wore a cream tux which complimented the look perfectly. The reception dress was another Justin Alexander dress but more sleek with a beautiful bow to make a statement for the evening.
Wedding Party
There was no wedding party technically, but we had some of our attendees play the part as bridesmaids for some photos since we were all dressed in colorful patterned dresses.
The Details
Florals & Decor
The florals were created by the incredible Wild Indigo. We had a full aisle of florals leading up to a full arch. The florals were whimsical and soft. Hues of pinks to compliment the lavender behind us. The ceremony space was complete with beautiful cane back chairs from White Glove Rentals and guests stayed cool fanning themselves with paper fans and held parasols to block the sun...but also for aesthetic purposes. Wild Indigo repurposed the aisle florals to create not one, but TWO cake meadows. The cake table was set up in our cocktail hour space which was one of my favorite parts of the day. Nestled in the rows of lavender, our cocktail hour scene was picturesque. Cocktail hour was complete with custom signage from Letterland Studio listing our delicious and REAL cocktails on a linen sign hanging from a beautiful handmade bar from Carolines rentals. We chose the prettiest green patterned linens from Nuage to cover the high top tables as well as the cake table and a pink sofa for our guests to sit and enjoy the cocktails. The cake was designed by the amazing designed by the amazing K Sweet Designs, and after our cake cutting photos, we swapped the cake out for some Vera Wang Party prosecco and had a champagne tower moment. The cake meadow florals were then repurposed and used on the ground in front of the long reception table. We had more florals running across the top of the table and a patterned plate, against a soft blue patterned linen. (You can never have too many colors or patterns) Letterland Studio designed gorgeous menus which we placed on top of the place settings and the paper butterflies were a perfect touch. We finished the evening dining around the beautiful tablescape enjoying a dinner of pasta from The Brickhouse restaurant and had the most beautiful glowy and pink sunset.
Favorite Design Element
My favorite design element was the cake table / champagne tower with the double cake meadows. It really was a show stopper. I also loved the topless vintage car. It was this cute little cream, vintage Datsun, from Michaels Motor Cars and the bride and groom looked incredible in this car as it sat against the rows of lavender.
