From our very first conversations, it was clear that hosting their wedding on the coast of Maine was a must for Katie & Chase. Maine is a special place for the two of them – especially Katie, whose family has been coming to Maine for generations. Summer in Maine is magical, and they wanted their guests to experience and share in something they both love. We ended up finding the perfect venue for them at The Edge in Lincolnville. With its sweeping views of Penobscot Bay, gorgeous property, and proximity to the Camden area, it provided the perfect location for their coastal Maine wedding. In designing, it was important to create an environment that enhanced the space rather than distracting from it – creating elegance in simplicity while also embracing the contemporary and modern look that is The Edge. Clean lines, modern lighting, and a white color palette created an ethereal and airy vibe. The touches of blues throughout added the softest accent of color. A statement floral piece over the dance floor was a focal point for the event.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
Chase and I met on the ski team at Colgate University 10 years ago in 2013. Chase was the captain and I walked onto the team because I loved to ski. Since then it has always been an adventure we cherish and enjoy together. Fast forward to 2021 when Chase and I were in Park City on a family ski trip…I woke up on March 1st 2021 in Park City to a gorgeous sunny day and whispered “rabbit rabbit” to myself…a monthly ritual for good luck. Only 8 hours later, Chase made me the luckiest girl in the world. After the ski lifts had closed, he asked me to go for a sunset hike to the top of the mountain behind his parent’s house to get one last ski run in. We hiked up together with our skis doing what we love and listening to our favorite songs on the way up. The vibes were perfect! We got to the top as the sun was dropping, and only a few moments later, Chase was down on one knee! I said ‘yes’ before words exited his mouth. We enjoyed the sunset as newly fiances and then skied down to meet our family, who was anxiously waiting with celebratory champagne.

Trillium Caterers provided the most amazing food & drinks for our guests. We brought in touches of Maine with a raw bar featuring local Pemaquid oysters, lobster rolls made in the Connecticut style (a favorite of Chase’s family), and other local seafood. For cocktails, we did his and hers – Sunapee Spritz & Maine Margarita.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
My mother, Evelyn, was a florist, so it was important to have her work closely with our planner and florist to bring the vision to life. We used white and ivory flowers with touches of pale blue throughout the design. It was also important to us to incorporate some local, seasonal flowers into the arrangements, and Coco Design Company did an amazing job of creating gorgeous arrangements that did just that. The decor continued with our clean, contemporary feel while also bringing in small touches of Maine. A good family friend who is an artist created beautiful Maine-themed watercolors that we used on our seating chart. The crest that she designed for us was used on menus and table numbers – it featured Maine blueberries and Marshall Point lighthouse – small nods to our memories in Maine.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]
Music is really important to the two of us, and everything we selected had a personal meaning. We wanted to create a vibe for our guests that carried them through the day. Corinthians – read by Chase’s family friend Better Together by Jack Johnson – read by Katie’s brother/groomsman. From Beginning to End by Robert Fulghum – read by Katie’s Godmother Starting with the ceremony, we selected ‘Rewrite the Stars’ by the Piano Guys for the wedding party. For my processional (bridal), I wanted to keep it traditional and classic with Pacabel’s Canon in D. Chase. I worked to create the perfect mix for cocktail hour, and our band, The A Town A List, created the ultimate dance party for the rest of the evening. Bride ceremony entrance – Pacabel’s Canon in D First dance – Holy by Justin Bieber Father/daughter – Forever Young by Rod Stewart…transitioned into This is Your Night by Amber – Katie/Dad broke out into jitterbug! Mother/son – At Last by Etta James ….transitioned into Sweet But Psycho – Chase/mom broke out into fun dancing and invited the whole family out. Ceremony and Cocktail Hour music was provided by SpeechLess Music.
