Celebrating Balinese Wedding Traditions in the Heart of Ubud
The Planning
The Inspiration
While planning an editorial workshop in Bali, we were most excited about showcasing the local culture to the best of our ability, while implementing all of its rich beauty and vibrant colors into our designs. We teamed up with many local suppliers to assist in building this inspirational shoot honouring a traditional Balinese wedding with all of the local outfits, headpieces, and a stunning location in the heart of Ubud.
The Venue
The venue was situated in the heart of Ubud at the the breathtaking Alaya Resort, with very classic Balinese architecture in the heart of the jungle with lush tropical forests and rice fields surrounding.

The bride wore two looks by a local dress supplier who specialises in dressing local couples for real weddings in Bali. The first look was a more classic ceremony style with gorgeous embroidery and a traditional Balinese headpiece, while the second look featured more glamour with a more subtle headpiece for the reception portion of the shoot.

Favorite Design Element
We incorporated the local ceremonial baskets of offerings which feature collections of fruits and flowers used during traditional Balinese weddings, as another nod to the local culture and traditions. Although a Balinese wedding in actuality lasts many days with the often the entire village being involved, we really tried to showcase as much of these special moments as possible within our shoot.
