Elegant Autumn Wedding Filled With Rich Colors And Timeless Details

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision

From the planners of Poppi Company: "When Marisa reached out to us about her wedding style and design, she spoke about how she envisioned her wedding with such passion and excitement, it naturally fueled our creativity, and we got right to work. We immediately fell in love with the unique and personal ‘hunting of the hounds’ styled wedding, which incorporated rich details of hunter green and maroon with dark stained wooden pieces that were complimented by antique accents. The wedding was held on Marisa's grandparents, private estate. Their beautiful brick home was the perfect location for getting ready photos, and the ceremony overlooked the pond on the property. The guests enjoyed a cocktail hour under the tall oak trees, and the evening ended under a sailcloth tent in the yard." From the bride: "The overall goal of our wedding was to just really make it feel like "us" - perfectly combining romantic style with rustic/hunt club accents to play homage to Tad as well (he grew up duck hunting at this house/property)."

Proposal Story
From the bride: "It became somewhat of a tradition for Tad and I to go for an evening walk at the farm he was living on at the time with our dogs, Bauer and Todd. Though simple, it was our time to catch up after a long day and get some quality time together. As we were nearing the end of one of our evening walks, it came as a huge surprise to me to see Tad getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. After a moment of disbelief, I said “yes!!”. It was exactly the proposal I had hoped for, just us and the dogs spending time on the farm!
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
From the bride: "I wanted my dress to be simple and classic--a look that will never go out of style and also tie in well to the entire design of the day!"
Bridesmaid Dresses
From the bride: "My vision for the bridesmaids’ dresses were elegant fall tones of burgundy, terracotta and dusty rose with some texture mixed in as well! I gave my girls a photo of my overall vision and worked with them to ultimately pick a dress that they felt good in! I loved the way the dresses perfectly played off the colors from the florals!"
The Details
Food & Drink
From the bride: "Our dishes were London broil and chicken Chesapeake. We wanted to make sure to incorporate Maryland crab somewhere, so this was perfect. Oysters were Tad’s must have and we are still talking about how AMAZING they were. Everyone absolutely loved them. For drinks we had a full bar along with a signature cocktail. We wanted something fitting for fall, but different than your normal fall sangria or old fashioned so we went with an Apply Cider Whiskey smash, which everyone also loved!!!"
Florals & Decor

From the bride: "Having previously worked for a wedding florist, I went into wedding planning pretty much knowing what I wanted for florals, and I knew Kate Campell was just the person for the job. I wanted romantic and elegant yet slightly whimsical and she completely brought that vision to life! , I wanted to incorporate dried hydrangeas which bring a beautiful tan/beige color to the palette. Other flowers in my must-haves were butterfly ranunculus, chocolate cosmos, beautiful blush dahlias, and natural grasses to tie in the waterfront foliage. Kate surprised me by incorporating gorgeous baskets at the aisle entrance which added the most perfect touch! My vision for the décor of the wedding was to make it feel like we were bringing the inside out with a hunt club-inspired twist! From the beautiful vintage pieces featured at the reception lounge to our own antique dresser that we used as the guestbook table and the various DIYs that my Dad and I tackled over the summer. We had so much fun creating bars, wooden lanterns, and custom cowhide ottoman! It’s so special to look back and see how many personal touches were included. The girls from Poppi Company did an amazing job bringing my whole vision together!"

Wedding Cake

The wedding cake was made by Cake by Jason and it was a simple three-tier cake topped with florals from Kate Campell to match the wedding theme.

Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
From the planners: "A beautiful display of rustic wooden chairs rented from White Glove Rentals covered the front yard of the privately owned historic Rumsey Island Mansion that laid alongside a calm flowing river which reflected the suns natural light onto the uniquely handcrafted florals that accentuated the ceremony space. Florist, Kate Campbell created a ground arch with dried hydrangeas, roses, dahlias, and natural grasses to compliment the view. Floral basket arrangements bloomed with some of the bride’s favorite romantic florals that added a touch of color to the ceremony space."
