Tonal Blue and Southern Charm at The White Sparrow

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
Regan was inspired by a tonal blue, southern feel when dreaming up her wedding day. She wanted it to have a garden-party feel with gorgeous lush florals, long reception tables, and lovely linens. Being a gifted graphic designer herself, the day-of design was largely inspired by the letterpress invitation suite that she created that was complete with a custom floral print and the lyrics to her first dance song.
Proposal Story
Trace proposed to Regan at White Rock Lake, in the Dallas area. He told Regan that they were going on a picnic, which is very out of character for them. Plus, it had been pouring all day, and was not the weather to sit and enjoy a picnic. Alas, Trace insisted they go, even as it continued to rain. Regan tried to talk him into going to dinner instead, but he insisted that the go to the Arboretum. Regan was also getting the feeling that he was going propose (since he is such a bad liar!) On the way, Trace took a random turn, saying he "had always wanted to check out this park." In Regan's head, he was stalling, but then they got there and got out of the car, and sure enough, there was a table set-up with some flowers & a bible with her new last name. Regan blacked out at this point and can't remember a word Trace said to her. Their friends were there taking pictures, and they had champagne ready for them to toast to their engagement with. After that, Regan & Trace headed to Regan's dad's photography studio, where all of their family and friends were waiting with a big engagement party.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
The bride selected a classic, Sarah Seven gown that was tailored, sophisticated and feminine. We loved the bow detailing on the back, as well as the sleek silhouette. The ponytail and natural but elevated makeup by Etoilly Artistry really complimented Regan's bridal look well.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The mismatched bridesmaid dresses were an important detail within Regan & Trace's wedding design. The varying blue tones and floral prints, created a curated yet cohesive look for the bridal party. The tall, posey-like bouquets also leaned into the garden party feel.
The Details
Food & Drink

Food Glorious Food cooked an exquisite meal onsite that guests enjoyed over a plated meal. The preset, southwest Caesar salads really set the tone as guests entered into the reception hall from the outdoor cocktail hour. Long tables seated guests downstairs, while upstairs guests gathered around round tables. For the entree portion of the meal, guests got their choice between grilled pesto chicken and wine braised short rib — both of which were drool-worthy. HD Liquid Catering whipped up fresh cocktails for guests all night long, which really kept the party going.

Florals & Decor
Knowing that a garden-party style is what we were looking to achieve, florals were super important to the integrity of this design! Everwild Floral created organic, whimsical floral arrangements that captured the tonal blue color scheme and balanced it with all kinds of white floral varieties. The bridal bouquet was an absolute stunner with it's robust shape and dimensional feel. I love that we opted for a slightly untraditional style of bridesmaids bouquets, that rather than being a miniature version of the bridal bouquet, were taller and longer with primarily stalk florals — which created an organic feel. The lush broken arch and whimsical ground meadows created definition in the ceremony space, as well as a stunning focal point and compliment to the organic aisle shape and the natural feel of the space. Other favorite floral elements were the bud vases and the long and low arrangements on the reception tables. While we had so much fun with the floral design, we didn't sleep on linen selections. The linen choice from BBJ elevated the event design and really played into the tonal blue color palette. In the reception space, we opted for a floral tonal embroidered runner on the farmhouse tables (a favorite detail from the day!) For the reception rounds and highboy tables, we featured multiple shades of solid blue to create variety and mimic the tonal feel. In the dancing space, we introduced an oxford print, which allowed us to lean into the fun of the al fresco dance party!
Wedding Cake
Regan & Trace opted to not have a wedding cake, and instead treated their guests to an ice cream bar from one of their favorite spots, Pokey-O's! Guests could choose between an ice cream cone or an ice cream sandwich (both of which were a huge hit!) The handheld sweets really fit the vibe of the outdoor, al fresco dance party!
Special Detail #1
The bride is a super talented graphic designer, so designing her own save the dates, invitation suite, and day-of goods felt like a natural extension of her talents! The multi-piece invitation suite featured bold yet elegant typography in a letterpress style, as well as custom floral prints bordering a few of the suite pieces, as well as on the envelope liner. A favorite detail included here was incorporation of a song lyric — a nod to the first dance selected by Regan & Trace. These custom elements were later tied through the seating chart, which featured that same floral print as a wallpaper and the song lyric as a header. Other notable paper good details were the hand-painted table numbers and the tonal blue vintage stamps.
Special Detail #2
The variety of beautiful spaces, and ability to create a memorable guest flow throughout an event, are a few of the things I love most about The White Sparrow. Through detailed design & thoughtful planning, we have the ability to create a distinct yet cohesive experience within each space that will surprise and delight guests along the way. For Regan & Trace, we started guests outside in The Grove, an outdoor ceremony space lined with beautiful, mature trees, with an organic shape. Once the ceremony was complete, guests enjoyed an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour that utilized the lawn space adjacent to the ceremony site, as well as the indoor bar and foyer space. From there, the barn doors were opened and guests were greeted with long, farmhouse tables that promoted an intimate, dinner-party feel for the reception. After dinner was complete, we opened the barn doors leading out to the back patio, and invited guests to join us for toasts, special dances, and an epic dance party — all under strung lights and the moonlight. Each space was distinct, yet cohesive, and it created a seamless and memorable guest experience.
