Mountain Brides Need to See This Elegant Aspen Affair
The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The vision for this mountain forest wedding brought high design to the Aspen setting enhancing the inherent beauty. We loved the drama and contrast of black and white with pops of floral pattern (linens) and mirrored surfaces (aisle, chargers, vases, stage façade). Kacey, our beautiful bride, requested all white florals, so in addition to classic blooms like roses, ranunculus, delphinium, and lisianthus, Bello & Blue included lots of bleached grasses to balance out the greenery already in the setting the blooms and the environment. We designed in a mostly traditional style, but also were inspired to mimic wildflowers growing on a mountainside allowing for movement and an organic, yet formal aesthetic overall.
Proposal Story
Kacey and Royal's family have a cabin in Aspen that’s nestled near the Roaring Fork River. It’s a meaningful place for these college sweethearts, so when it came time for Royal to propose, he brought Kacey down to the water for a photo shoot—but instead got down on one knee and popped the question. Both of their families joined them for a celebratory dinner afterward in a private yurt!

Food & Drink
We partnered with Denver's Catering by Design who are known for their creativity.
In tandem we created a unique menu including passed hors d’oeuvres with spicy tuna push pops, trout and toast, paella arancini, and cheese and honey served in savory cones.
Dinner began with a summer harvest salad of heirloom tomatoes, burrata, arugula puree, shaved croutons, balsamic pearls, and olive oil. Grilled ciabatta with a trio of butters was served family style on wood boards. Guests selcted their entree with a choice between sous vide beef tenderloin, chicken and waffles, pan-seared halibut, and vegan scallops (made from seared king oyster mushrooms).
An open bar featured martinis, old fashioned cocktails, beautiful wines, and of course champagne for the celebration!
Florals & Decor
For the ceremony,
we worked hard to enhance, and not take away from the incredible backdrop of the mountain range with lush, all
white florals and a mirrored aisle to reflect the 360 breathtaking views.
Wedding Cake
We knew that we wanted a white cake with sugar floral details for the design aesthetic, and for the flavor we went with both of our favorite – red velvet. It was a hit!
Special Detail #1
The Mirrored Aisle - We partnered with Pink Monkey Studio for all lighting and decor and they helped us to create this beautiful mirrored aisle. We wanted to create a real moment for the ceremony without taking away from the spectacular setting. A mirrored aisle allowed us to do that as it reflected the stunning mountain backdrop and the aspen trees, as well as the fresh floral. It rained just before the ceremony (and even sprinkled a bit during) which gave a very cool illusion to the mirror, adding a beautiful texture we didn't plan for or expect. We echoed this mirror detail with a mirrored stage facade, and mirrored vases for some of the table top florals as well.
Special Detail #2
From the very beginning Kacey knew she wanted her invitations in a black box, and to feel like the wedding invitation for the weekend was an experience for everyone to receive and to open. We met with two different local stationers and Kacey determined Cristy with Lucky onion understood her vision and would work with us to curate exactly what she wanted. Cristy spent a lot of time with us showing paper, fabric, eucalyptus options etc. The boxes had a little pocket on the lid which housed the Response Card and Envelope, as well as the details card, and a note about the couples monogram - an abstract bunny which showcased their initials. This monogram was created as a nod to Royal's great grandfather who wrote the Br'er Rabbit books. Royal was given a monogram as a baby with his initials, and Cristy worked with them to recreate it to incorporate both of their initials as a couple - it was really special and their history was detailed as a part of the invitation as well.

Kacey & Royal "have a flair for the dramatics", so we surprised their guests with a custom wedding themed, drone light show to close out our reception! It was amazing to see all those little lights dance under the Colorado stars. The finale of the
show included their new family crest, champagne bottles, and even the wedding date!
