Southern Entertaining at It’s Finest at This Romantic Tennessee Wedding

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision
The bride and her family wanted a romantic, elevated, and timeless event that offered gourmet food, great drinks and a fabulous band, ensuring guests had a great time. With luxury event planning firm Whitney Bowman Evens at the helm, they leaned into a palette of neutrals with touches of green and apricot and added a mix of natural textures, an abundance of romantic florals, loads of candlelight, a layered tabletop, and romantic twinkle lights to bring the vision to life.
Proposal Story
During a family Thanksgiving in North Carolina, Greg planned planned to propose and invited Kristin’s family along for the fun. Under the guise of taking family photos at a mountain lookout during sunset, Greg got down on one knee and proposed to Kristin using her great grandmother’s ring. Great grandma was there and wholeheartedly approved! The family came prepared with a bottle of champagne, ready to celebrate on top of the mountain.
The Fashion
Wedding Gown
Kristin wore a beautiful scoop neck Monique Lhuillier ball gown with hand-appliqued floral lace and spaghetti straps. The dress had a full ballgown skirt, a breathtaking train, and french bustle.
Bridesmaid Dresses
Kristin's bridesmaids wore emerald green faille dresses by Amsale, from Bella Bridesmaid. The flower girls wore custom heirloom dresses designed and hand sewn by Denise Collins.
The Details
Food & Drink
Kristin and Greg wanted to provide an elevated food and drink experience for their friends and family. As cocktail hour began, guests were greeted with passed Hors d'ouevres and champagne. By the Tracks offered a truly fine-dining experience with a delicious gourmet dinner. Kristin and Greg’s beloved lab Lula is their pride and joy. As such, they named their signature cocktail, a gin and tonic, after her.
Florals & Decor
Kristin & Greg’s floral design focused on romantic, garden-inspired florals and featured an airy floral palette of blush, honey, dusty rose, and pale peach. Details of their design included foraged golden rain pods, heirloom garden roses, and still life fruit styling. A larger than life tree with flowers growing underneath was designed as the centerpiece for the large, round head table alongside neutral colored, taper candles. Guest tables featured low and lush compote style flower arrangements as well as large glass vases with fall branches. The fireplace in the dining space was another focal moment surrounded by candles, dripping flowers, and trees covered in moss.
Wedding Cake
After dinner, guests enjoyed a French Vanilla Cake with Almond Filling and Buttercream Icing from Regina Long.
Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs
Kristin walked down the aisle to Glascow Love Song, played by a stringed orchestra. Her sister read 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 during the ceremony. To kick off the reception, Kristin and Greg danced to Too Late to Turn Back Now by Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose. Kristin and her dad danced to the Beatles song Let It be while Greg and his mother dance to the Quad City Dj’s Space Jam.
Special Detail #1
The fully custom invitations, designed and pressed by Little Postage House, featured handmade cotton paper. The text was letterpressed in a custom emerald color that was handmixed to match the bridesmaid dresses. A floral motiffe, incorporating sweet pea flower and roses, was printed on the envelope liner as a nod to the garden florals throughout the event. The invitation suite was held together with a green velvet ribbon and a custom gold wax seal. The final touch was a curated postage collection. Alongside floral postage stamps to represent the garden theme, the Little Postage House also tied vintage stamps to tell the couple’s story: a Tennessee stamp to represent the bride’s home state, a Washington, D.C. stamp to represent where the couple met, and a fire pumper stamp in honor of the groom, a firefighter.
Special Detail #2
The WBE team had a 14ft round head table custom built, along with a custom linen to fit, and it was a showstopper!
Special Detail #3
The twinkle tent lighting was breathtaking and created a magical ambiance to the perfect night for Kristin and Greg.
