Classic Black And White Tented Wedding Filled With Style

The Planning
Design / Vibe / Vision

The wedding began with an intimate ceremony at The Inn At St. John's. Afterward, the sunshine was beaming down as we captured their bride and groom portraits on the beautiful grounds. I couldn’t get over how beautiful the tree blossoms were in the courtyard! Erin and Tanner also had an awesome vintage Rolls Royce that transported the bride and her parents to the ceremony. Parked outside, we could take amazing portraits with it after the ceremony. From there, we headed to Erin’s aunt’s property, where there was a stunning, clear-top tent to host their celebration of love. Nothing beats a greatly executed tent wedding on a private residence. At first, Erin and Tanner had originally planned their entire reception at The Inn At St. John's but shifted gears a few months before to this gorgeous setup. I think their backup plan was even better than the original! I was in awe when we arrived at the tented reception—everything about Erin and Tanner’s classic black and white wedding exuded style.

Proposal Story

Tanner and Erin got engaged on Christmas Eve in Ann Arbor, where they met and went to school. It was the perfect holiday engagement!

The Fashion
Wedding Gown

The bride wore a gorgeous satin ballgownL'Amour Bridal wedding gown. It was complete with an open V back with the perfect statement back bow. The long train was perfect for the St. John's Inn ceremony. Bustled for the reception, it was just as fabulous. Erin's look was complete with a romantic half-up half-down wedding hairstyle that featured classic pearl accents.

Bridesmaid Dresses

The bridesmaids wore classy black dresses from Kennedy Blue. They were complimenting silhouettes, with varied necklines.

Groomsman Attire

The groom and groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos from State & Liberty.

The Details
Food & Drink

Chowhound provided a delicious dinner that guests couldn't get enough of.

Florals & Decor
Erin and Tanner chose to have a classic black and white wedding reception. Erin and Tanner's elegant florals and decor featured all white florals with chic candle accents and acrylic table numbers. The black and white dance floor was a focal point under the large white tent. I love that the tent had skylights to let in natural light on all sides.
Wedding Cake

Iversen's Bakery provided a 3-three tier classic white wedding cake with greenery accents. It was as tasty as it was beautiful!

Special Detail #1
The day began at Erin’s childhood home with her fur baby by her side. Her adorable companion Yoshi was a part of the day’s festivities all morning. Both the bride’s mother and grandmother were there to help her get ready. It was so sweet to experience multiple generations in one room together celebrating. Erin and her grandma have a very special bond. I found myself getting a little emotional at one point witnessing their love for one another!
Special Detail #2
The reception took place at the bride's aunt's home.
Special Detail #3
Erin and Tanner's wedding made use of Erin's grandmother's ring bearer pillow, which is 60+ years old.
