A Chic California Wedding Filled With Classic Touches
The vibe for the rehearsal dinner was upscale Spanish-inspired/modern Talavera. We were inspired by the Talavera tile print, pulling the blue, yellows, and oranges. The magenta was inspired by the beautiful bougainvillea that surrounds The O'Donnell House. Wedding For the design we combined traditional, romantic elements, but with a fresh twist. We wanted timeless but still modern, and sleek.
The bride's rehearsal dinner dress was by The Bar—a NYC-based fashion brand. The bride wore a lace strapless gown by designer Galia Lahav for the ceremony.
The food and drink for the rehearsal dinner was provided by Palm Springs-based company 849 Fine Catering. We kept the signature cocktails in theme and went with Palomas and Spicy Margaritas. For the wedding cocktail hour and reception, dinner was catered by The Parker Palm Springs.
Signature cocktails included:
The Mozi-Rita (His) - skinny spicy margarita, lime juice, jalapeno, tequila
The Honeymoon (they went to Italy on their honeymoon, note the aperol) - OJ, agave, fresh lime, tequila, aperol, sparkling wine
The Margo (Hers) - cucumber, lime juice, gin, elderflower liqueur, sparkling water
For the rehearsal dinner, the florals were lush, and overflowing and were the main focus for the design. Emma from Leta Verbana worked her magic, bringing out the pops of pink layered with the greenery, and little glimpses of yellow and orange. For the wedding, florals were by Rebelle Fleurs. To play off the design of traditional with a modern twist, we did monoflorals. For example, the ceremony florals were all white roses. Arrangements for the reception were grouped by floral type - tulips, roses, orchids, and hydrangeas. This really helped to keep it feel sleek and clean. All vessels for florals and candles were clean glass vases. The majority being clear glass, and some are a deep emerald color to tie in the green. The gold element was tied in through the chiavari chairs, the gold trim on the chargers, and gold single-stem vases placed on the bars. The detail of pearl accents was also found in the napkin rings from Theoni, the trim on the chargers, as well as the decoration of the wedding cake.
At the rehearsal dinner, we had a cake made by Exquisite Desserts that showcased the Talavera tile print on the cake. The wedding cake was made by the team at The Parker Palm Springs. It was four tiers decorated with pearl-like piping, and the topper was the original topper from her parent's wedding cake!
For the rehearsal dinner music it was a relaxed mood, with an acoustic guitarist from Dart Collective. We had a classical violinist perform at the ceremony. For the party and reception, Westcoast Music (JB Project) performed a high-energy set!
One of our favorite details was the tall gold vases filled with single-stem orchids. They were definitely a standout in terms of decor. And the champagne tower was a super fun moment for the bride & groom!
