This Villa Antonia wedding is filled with romantic details and touches of soft pink. The couple turned to Bouquets of Austin to bring their Big Day vision to life with stunning floral designs throughout the special day. Vanessa Joy Photography was there to capture every magical moment in imagery that is sure to stand the test of time, you’ll love every detail inside the full gallery.
From the bride… Madeleine Barjau and George Gillette met in 2015 during her Freshman year and his Sophomore year at Texas A&M. Although Madeleine told her mom they met at the library originally, they actually met through a dating app during undergrad. George was one of her first matches, and sent her a wholly ridiculous lengthy pickup line – but he seemed fun and she wanted to give it a chance. On their first date, George was so distracted talking to Madeleine, he accidentally took a wrong turn, and they actually drove almost 30 minutes out of the city before either of them noticed. That’s when Madeleine got two important ideas – first, she should drive next time, and second, this might actually work long term. Last February, while Madeleine was on a walk with her sister and dog, George surprised Madeleine by proposing in her childhood neighborhood park, where they often go on walks. George originally wanted to propose 2/19/21, as that would also add up the way their first “I love you” did – 8/7/15. However, the winter storm postponed the props he intended to bring, so it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, it was a week later, on 2/26/21, when George surprised Madeleine at a park they frequently visited. He had set up a display of custom donuts (a favorite dessert of hers) saying “Will You Marry Me?”, orchids which were the flowers he brought Madeleine when he played piano during their first Valentine’s together, and her dream Tiffany’s engagement ring.
The most difficult part of planning our wedding was picking a wedding date. We knew we wanted to pick a day that would resonate with us. Numbers have always been significant in our lives from our first “I love you” on 8/7/15 to our planned proposal on 2/19/21 (the storm pushed it back a week since the ring couldn’t be delivered during the freeze!). We decided the magical day would be 11.12.22. After that, everything flew by as we had the most amazing planner and vendor team to help us with all the details. Both 35mm film and digital photography were used to capture this wedding with Vanessa Joy Photography. One of the most unique moments during the ceremony was the “social media moment” where everyone, at the beginning of the ceremony, could get a picture of the couple at the altar so they could then put away their photos and be present in the ceremony afterward. It was a perfect way to make the guests, couple, and media team happy!
We love to try new take-out restaurants and watch movies together. Then we’ll discuss the movie (favorite/least favorite parts, plot, characters, etc.) afterward, though sometimes his more convoluted theories strain the conversation. Staying at home and talking together over a movie though is always relaxing and my favorite thing to do. Spending the day together and exploring local downtown Austin would be a great special date for us. New restaurants and activities and walking around the area. Our favorite thing about each other is that we are completely comfortable around each other and love being together even if it’s just sitting in the same room and doing separate things. Our relationship is easygoing, dependable, romantic, playful, trusting, loving, and caring.
