Now it may seem like this one would take a while, but it’s surprisingly simple. And the best part, it’s sustainable too! Go to your local thrift store and you’ll no doubt find a plethora of mix-and-match holiday houses from holidays gone by. Get enough to make your own little Christmas village, then all you need is some Rust-O-Leum chalked spray paint. It works on ceramic and glass and there’s no sanding prep needed! Just spray and they’ll be dry before you’re ready to take the last batch of cookies out of the oven. Glitter is optional, of course, but always encouraged.

Okay, so these are just about the cutest most picture-perfect gingerbread houses we’ve ever seen. And no, we don’t expect you to be able to recreate this masterpiece in the wee hours the night before your big dinner party. Thankfully, there are a ton of pre-packaged gingerbread house options out there (even at your local craft store), so pick up a couple and don’t be afraid to color outside the lines when it comes to decorating. Get pre-made icing, sprinkles, and other fun goodies that fit with your holiday color palette and go to (gingerbread)town.

Is it just us or do place cards make everything seem so fancy? They’re the perfect way to dress up a house party! Add a holiday spin by using an ornament instead of your average paper place card. You can get really crafty and use your newfound calligraphy skills to write out your guests’ names in a metallic paint pen directly on the ornaments, or you can write their name out on a ribbon and fasten it to the top of the ornament.
