From Sarah Kazemburg Events + StylingWhile Lauren and Jimmy’s wedding took place in Virginia near both of their hometowns, they envisioned it being a colorful, grandmillenial summer garden party inspired by their favorite vacation spot/happy place in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard where they were engaged in 2020 after five years of dating. They fell in love with the historic Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House’s lush open garden lawn for ceremony, romantic fountain for cocktail hour and tented reception space for an al fresco celebration.

Invitations by Emily Baird Design set the initial scene, featuring a colorful, grandmillenial inspired monogram, a custom floral and lobster pattern and a die-cut lobster card insert to nod to the Nantucket staple. An all-calligraphy, letterpressed invitation card kept the suite balanced and clean paired with more colorful inserts to felt curated but not too “matchy”.

As they arrived for the wedding weekend, guests received mini welcome totes filled with treats to enjoy over the weekend including Cape Cod chips and mini lobster gummies. Lauren gifted each of her bridesmaid a handkerchief, each with a unique floral embroidery pattern that she collected over the course of wedding planning.

Sumptuous, colorful flowers were a big priority to Lauren and included all of her favorite summertime blooms – coral charm peonies, butterfly ranunculus, delphinium and more. Lush floral gardens in pink and white lined the ceremony aisle where Lauren and Jimmy exchanged vows under a large Oak tree. Their sweet golden retriever Edgar was included the processional right before Lauren walked down the aisle with her dad.

During cocktail hour, guests were greeted with refreshing Orange Crushes and Aperol Spritz’s and grazed over a coastal harvest raw bar set in a boat. One of Lauren’s favorite moments was when her dad, a professional fiddler, joined their string quartet to perform a few songs during cocktail hour.

The custom lobster pattern and monogram from their invitation suite was brought into the bar design to bring the look full circle. Their seating chart featured lobster-cut die cards calligraphed with guests names to lead them to their tables, with a punny headline “You’re My Greatest Catch” set on a striped backdrop wall.

A kings table set in the center of the reception tent created a wow factor for the space, set with a blue and white striped linen and colorful florals running down the length. Place settings featured wicker base plates and floral patterned china to complete the look.

Their buttercream wedding cake featured textured stripes and the monogram motif, set on a mini market cart decked out with the aisle florals repurposed from the ceremony.
