A Perfectly “Lucky” Charleston Wedding Weekend in Shades of Blue & White

This classic Charleston wedding done in blue and white is full of charm.  Anderson Event Design planned a day that delights filled with tender moments and what the bride’s nearest and dearest like to call “Megan’s Luck”- an ode to her positivity. Floral design by Festoon is the exclamation mark on a momentous occasion.  Fall in love with every artful image shot by Rebecca Sigety Photography inside the full gallery.

From Rebecca Sigety Photography“Megan’s Luck” was a phrase I heard all weekend long. An ode to our beautiful bride’s positive, joyful and welcoming spirit, Megan & Max’s wedding weekend seemed especially lucky. From the most beautiful early fall Charleston weather to the dreamy blue and white coastal aesthetic, each moment of the day was absolutely perfect. I had the pleasure of meeting Megan and Max earlier this year when I captured their beautiful (and brisk!) engagement session among the cobblestone streets of Charleston and the sandy shores of Folly Beach. Along for the ride was their sweet pup, Marty, who doesn’t know a stranger and simply loves everyone he meets! Megan, Max, and Marty’s fun loving and adventurous spirits made for a beautiful session and the perfect opportunity for me to really learn the ins and outs of this sweet couple and their relationship. Megan and Max met working at a start up in New York City. Same floor, but different departments, it didn’t take these two long to realize they had met someone special. When Megan received a job opportunity in San Francisco, it took Max only a phone call to his mom asking for some sage wisdom, to know that he needed to keep Megan a part of his life. Engaged, and now several cross country moves later, these two chose the Holy City as the perfect place to say I Do. Megan and Max kicked off their wedding weekend in absolute style. They welcomed their guests with custom wedding weekend welcome baskets at The Dewberry Charleston to kick off their celebration. But I met Meg and Max at The Dewberry’s Living Room Bar for a quick cocktail before we headed across the Cooper to Mount Pleasant’s Historic Old Village and the charming blue and white The Post House Inn. But I dare not skip over our most adorable mode of transportation. Low Country Valet‘s baby blue bus ‘Dorothy’ was our ride for the evening and the perfect backdrop for some quick snaps before we headed to dinner. The Post House Inn is a charming coastal spot, adored by locals and flocked to by tourists in Charleston’s summers for their fresh coastal offerings and creative cocktails. We started the evening on their open air patio with all the low country favorites – oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail and a hamachi crudo that’s simply to die for. The party was abuzz with champagne and Aperol Spritz’ as family and friends reunited to celebrate their favorite duo. Dinner was served in the eclectic and charming Rose Room. The long tables were furnished with the last of summer’s blooms: garden roses, blue bells and perfectly placed greenery as the parents, maid of honor and best man delivered their toasts to the couple. Of course, there was more mention of Megan’s extraordinary luck, but Christine (Megan’s maid of honor), made sure to adorn Max with all of the good luck charms she could find to make sure he wouldn’t feel the least bit unlucky – but it was pretty clear all weekend that Max may have just been the luckiest person in the room.

We woke on Saturday to not a cloud in the sky and made our way to PPHG’s William Aiken House, on King Street in Downtown Charleston. This historic building sits amongst the bustling shopping and dining district on the Holy City’s busiest strip, but once you’re inside it’s walls, you’re immediately transported into it’s magic and immersed in the historic beauty, both inside and outside of the home. Megan and Max chose to continue their blue and white coastal aesthetic throughout the wedding day, effortlessly designed by Anderson Event Design. Megan’s bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids chose a mix of blue and blue and white floral dresses while the reception space was adorned with blue and white linens and plates, caned hurricane vases and signage and perfectly accented by Festoon‘s neutral floral palette. The ceremony arch was a true showstopper, but perhaps my favorite details of the day were the unique bridal and bridemaid’s bouquets, each organically arranged and the perfect accent pieces to their blue and white backgrounds. After a sweet first look with not just Max, but with her dad AND her bridesmaids, I whisked the couple off and into Charleston’s historic district for every photographer’s wedding day dream!

We spent an hour wandering the historic streets to capture beautiful portraits of just our couple. And in true “Megan’s Luck” fashion, we practically had the city to ourselves with glowy light that rivaled ‘golden hour’. Upon our return, we captured photos with family, their bridal parties and of course, Marty, who couldn’t help but steal kisses from his two favorite humans. And before we knew it, it was time for the main event. Megan and Max’s ceremony was an intimate and joyful affair, tucked into William Aiken’s carriage house lot. They exchanged traditional vows as they stood before their families and friends. And even Marty made a surprise appearance as their ‘ring bearer’ before the couple exchanged rings and their first kiss as husband and wife! They recessed through a celebration of white rose petals and headed off into the literal sunset as Mr. And Mrs. Wilde. After a beautiful candlelit dinner, Megan and Max danced the night away before a grand exit into their classic getaway car. But no William Aiken wedding day would be complete without a quick snap below a custom sign at the classic American Theater next door. I think it’s easy to see that it’s not only Megan that’s the lucky one. Megan and Max are equally lucky in love and I was lucky to be a small part of the amazing team that brought this perfect weekend together! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wilde!
