University, King’s College London. We were staying in the same block of flats in Stepney Green. When my flatmate and I worked out there was a group of guys from our campus living a couple of floors above us, we invited them over for drinks and that was the first time we met. Charles had a girlfriend at the time, but we quickly became best friends and fast forward 5 years of dancing around each other, and at long last admitting we were both in love with each other, we finally went on our first date. Fast forward another 5 years and we moved in together, bought our first property together, moved to Dubai to pursue our careers together, and are now husband and wife.
Charles surprised me on ‘date night’. We regularly plan our date nights but this time, Charles wanted to plan everything without me knowing. He just told me to dress up as I usually would and he would sort everything else. We arrived at The One And Only hotel and walked out on the beach where a romantic private set up of roses and candles had been arranged. He ordered 2 glasses of champagne, got down on one knee and there was a box and a ring. I was so surprised, I forgot to say ‘yes’ with all the crying!
I always had a vision of what I wanted for my wedding day, but thanks to Wanderlust Wedding it truly became a reality. And where to begin with planning a wedding! We always wanted a destination wedding, one that was elegant and intimate and of course, over a few days to make a full weekend of the celebrations! We met Lisa, Franck and team via Chateau de Tourreau, the venue in Provence that we decided would be the perfect place to celebrate our marriage.
From that point on, they led the way, interpreting all our wishes and desires to ensure our dream weekend came true, and we cannot thank them enough. From the welcome dinner, to D day to the pool party the day after, everything was executed perfectly. Everyone says that planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things, but in terms of planning, Wanderlust Wedding took the lead – which was definitely something we needed given the uncertainty of COVID and the difficulty in traveling to France to finalize details. The whole experience was magical, and I wish we could do it all again.
