Modern romance meets old-world charm at this decidedly chic wedding planned by Christina Baxter Weddings. Velvet details, vintage cocktails, and show-stopping florals by Branch Design Studio set the scene for a sophisticated event celebrating the couple’s love. From Christina Baxter Weddings… After 4 reschedules due to COVID, Rachel and Remington finally walked down the aisle on a beautiful fall afternoon. Surrounded by dear friends and family, Rachel and Remington exchanged vows in a romantic boxwood garden. Followed by a rooftop reception with a panoramic view of the holy city’s skyline, where guests could enjoy a breathtaking sunset and sip signature his and hers cocktails and delicate hors d’oeuvres, hi-lighting flavors of the Lowcountry.

The guests were then invited to a seated 4-course dinner al fresco under the stars and french bistro lighting. And then danced into the wee hours to ending with a grad exit and departure in a vintage 1949 Oldsmobile convertible.

How They Met: Remington had just moved to Charleston after being stationed in Yokosuka, Japan with the U.S. Navy. Rachel was living in Charleston for the summer before beginning medical school. They met through mutual friends and had their first date at a local wine bar where they shared their very first charcuterie board which has since become a staple!

Rachel’s vision for her wedding was to capture the old-world sophistication of Charleston and The Dewberry Charleston itself, with vintage cocktails and lush details.

Rachel’s Favorite details include their first look in Charleston’s historic French Quarter along with the vintage car. Lush white ceremony florals lining the aisle and climbing up the cypress trees for the ceremony backdrop. Walking down the aisle to Fleetwood Mac’s, Landslide, performed by Charleston Virtuosi. Rooftop cocktails overlooking the Charleston harbor at sunset. Candle-lit alfresco dinner in the courtyard with live jazz music. Romantic table scapes and all of the velvet!
