From Caitlin… This editorial at the breathtaking Catalina View Gardens in Palos Verdes, California was inspired by organic textures, spring pastels, and the contrast of stone elements with delicate, pressed flowers. Emphasis in design was placed on a clean and fresh aesthetic, perfect for the modern bride seeking to host a unique and intimate outdoor celebration with her closest loved ones. Catalina View Gardens, with its ocean and vineyard views, abundant bougainvillea, vines, and arched pathways, lent to the sense of a dreamy, destination wedding, reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast.
Concept and design were crafted by Los Angeles based photographer, Caitlin Alohilani Photography, and the day was effortlessly executed by Southern California wedding planner, Blush Events. Videographer, Dale Castro, captured the details of the day beautifully on film, immortalizing the elegance and chemistry between our real-life couple, Inez and Jacob. You’re not going to want to miss the highlight video!
Our gorgeous bride, Inez, wore two looks from bridal boutique, En Blanc, and Israeli designer, Liz Martinez: the Audrey and Cecilia gowns. Both gowns evoked Inez’s femininity and ethereal beauty with their sheer details, subtle beading, and floral appliqué. Rings, studs, and necklaces from Everett Fine Jewelry complimented the look with a subtle extra sparkle. A bridal cape from designer Half Penny London was a fun added detail at sunset. Hair and Makeup Artist, Sarah, of Beauty Bespoken, styled Inez to perfection with two romantic yet modern looks, with her signature bridal ponytail being a favorite and the perfect solution to an incredibly windy afternoon on the coast! Sari Raffia Earrings from A.B.Ellie were a delight and paired amazingly with the ponytail. A sleek and classic tuxedo was provided by Wedding House LA and was worn by our groom, Jacob, with class.
Our florist, Dawn of Sunrise Blooms, designed two bouquets: one a more structural, asymmetrical creation focused on movement and color, and the other more traditional, lush, and romantic in nature. We love all the inspiration Dawn provided in her floral creations for brides seeking to do things a little differently!
Stone elements were incorporated throughout the styling of the details, ceremony, and reception tablescape, and were easily obtained from a local landscaping company. Clay pots and vessels were incorporated into Sunrise Bloom’s organic and effortless ceremonial meadow piece, lending further to the textural melody running throughout this editorial. The reception tablescape satellite florals were Ikebana inspired, keeping things light and fresh, with larger floor pieces repurposed from the ceremony arrangement. Loquats, grown in Dawn’s home garden, were included for added shape, color, and texture. Table rentals were provided by MTB Event Rentals, including those amazing champagne pearl flatware sets. The stone ceramic dinnerware was provided by Signature Party Rentals. Candle taper holders were collected from another local small business, Fig & Stone, and our pressed floral cake was a collaboration between FinaLee Floral Cakes and Sunrise Blooms, with pressed flowers applied carefully using buttercream. It took center stage with placement on our reception table, a piece of art for all to enjoy!
Jane Jira Calligraphy designed the invitation suite with a variety of mediums and textures, using handmade paper, linen fabric, card stock, vellum, and delicate pressed flowers, and was guided by a modern and minimal aesthetic. A linen welcome sign hung from the olive trees on property and blended seamlessly with its surroundings. Handwritten calligraphy escort name cards adorned each place setting, weighted down by floral lollipop favors purchased on Etsy from another small business owner, Alissa Sophia.
Sip Sip Mobile Bar’s creator, Charlotte, served two Spring inspired craft cocktails. The first was a refreshing cucumber cooler, a gin based drink using fresh cucumber juice, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, hand squeezed lime juice and cucumber infused syrup. Served in a ribbed coupe and garnished with edible flowers, violas. The second was a lavender grapefruit paloma made with locally foraged and infused lavender syrup, fresh grapefruit juice, tequila and a splash of grapefruit soda. Served in a rocks glass and garnished with a dehydrated grapefruit wedge and a rosemary sprig. Perfect for coastal sipping while taking in the view.
This editorial was created to provide inspiration to the modern couple seeking a fresh, organic, and intimate wedding, and we hope it provides new ideas for your celebrations!
