They say rain is good luck on your wedding day and for this Central Park Boathouse wedding, it couldn’t be more true! Not only did it make for the most romantic photos, artfully shot by Amy Rizzuto Photography, but it also led to an impromptu performance of “Seasons of Love” from the bride’s Broadway friends as guests went to shelter from the storm! Mary Hines planned the magical day with love and fun at the center of the experience, and a bevy of beautiful blooms designed by Lenox Hill Florist were nothing short of stunning. From the bride… Mark and I met when his brother married my college roommate/best friend. We reconnected a few years later when he moved up to New York for work and began dating shortly after! Mark planned the perfect proposal. We had lunch at Gigino’s down in Wagner Park and then began to walk around by the water overlooking the Statue of Liberty. He proposed, pulling the ring out of a contact case in his pocket so I wouldn’t suspect, and even hired our good friend to hide in the bushes and take pictures for posterity. It was just so thoughtful and perfect! Our vision for our wedding day was for it to feel elegant but also warm and inviting. We wanted everyone to feel the love and support they had given us in raising us and walking alongside of us. We chose many candles and twinkle lights to really warm up the room, and classic white flowers for a crisp, clean feel. My favorite moments from our wedding day was walking down the aisle, seeing Mark’s face in that moment and locking eyes. All the planning and anticipation faded away and it was just bliss and giddy excitement then. We also had some Broadway friends sing and that was beyond special and something I’ll never forget. Dancing on the dance floor with people from so many seasons was also just truly joyful! It rained all day on our wedding day! If it does on yours, I would say to embrace the rain and try to let everything out of your control go. BUT to make sure you buy plenty of clear umbrellas for you, your family, and your wedding party to be prepared so it won’t ruin your photos. It actually made ours even more magical thanks to our photographer Amy Rizzuto Photography!
From Amy Rizzuto Photography… Does it get more romantic than Central Park in the rain? It rained all day for Emily and Mark’s The Central Park Boathouse wedding, but this could not wash away the joy from this couple or their guests. Every moment of the day was filled with laughter and love. Emily and Mark’s excitement was contagious and made their wedding truly special. It’s impossible to sum up such a beautiful occasion in one word, but if I had to pick a single one to describe Emily and Mark’s wedding day, it would be JOY! Emily played Glinda in Wicked on Broadway and many of the guests were her fellow stars! One of my favorite moments on their wedding day was when we got caught under Bethesda Terrace in a downpour. Emily and Mark’s talented bridal party broke out in song, putting on an impromptu performance of “Seasons of Love” for the groups of tourists seeking shelter from the rain.
It truly was a magical day! Following their beautiful ceremony at The Central Park Boathouse, it was time for Emily and Mark to celebrate with their family and friends! Their reception was filled with twinkling lights, soft candles, and gorgeous white blossoms. I even loved the cute dog treat favors Emily and Mark gave to their guests on behalf of their own pup! It was such a blessing to witness Emily and Mark’s love and faith, and to be a part of such a special day in their lives!
