A Sweet And Sustainable California Wedding

Our bride and groom don’t only share the same name, but also a love for sustainability! For their wedding, Hao and Hao decided to go with dried flowers for a beautiful and eco-conscious look.  Lovely Time planned the picture-perfect day, and tumbleweed floral design created artful elegance from the ceremony to the reception.  Every magical moment was captured in time in the incredible imagery by Studio Opia, visit the full gallery for all the darling details.

From Lovely TimeThe first time I visited the venue with the couple, we found a dreamy old barn on the property filled with dried flowers preserved from the venue’s spring and summer blooms and from previous weddings. The idea highly influenced the design of the wedding. Dried flowers and the idea of a sustainable wedding played a big part of the wedding, the welcome table, reception table flowers, and especially the epic ceremony backdrop. The florist did a great job of putting up the big palm leaf backdrop for the ceremony, which turned into an Instagram/Tiktok-worthy photo booth to keep the guests entertained.

From the bride… A fun fact is that I share the same first name with my husband. So we customize the big Hao sign on our ceremony backdrop, which makes the whole scene so unique and so Hao. And our first name also shares the same pronunciation as the word “good” in Chinese. An old Chinese proverb says good things come in pairs. And we played with the homophone on our RSVP sets and favor boxes.  From the groom… My wife and I are both videographers and we had worked on a wedding at Park Winters before and fell in love with the property. I joked about having our own wedding here back then. And now here we are. I love that the venue has a retro vibe but can also be very modern. It gives us a lot of freedom to achieve our not-so-big wedding dream. And the venue is pet friendly, which is also very important to us. Because we wanted our dogs, Sashimi and Poke to be present when we tie the knot.

From Studio OpiaThe wedding is all about being unique and being themselves. There are custom pieces in every shot. The bride hand-painted the matched motorcycle jackets and made the groom’s bow tie. The vintage hat and lace gloves are custom accessories, which makes her Downton Abby dream fantasy come true. Her retro floral green dress was made for the bride by a fashion designer friend of hers and is one of a kind.
