From Amanda of A Charleston Bride… It was really important that we highlight and compliment the natural beauty of the property. I gathered inspiration from the colors and landscape at the venue and found ways to bring that beauty inside the tent. Early on in the design process Bailey expressed wanting to showcase the charm of the property such as it’s water view and grand oak trees so finding ways to make those items feel part of the tented reception became a priority. The clear top tent adorned with greenery mimicked the natural greens of the oak trees that sat right out side the tent and the area down by the water just outside the tent was utilized both during cocktail hour and the reception by being host to fun, personal tributes to the couple such as a cigar bar. Overall it was a night that fused the natural beauty of the property with the beautiful love story Bailey and Robert got to share on their wedding day with their dearest family and friends!

From the Bride, Bailey… Robert and I fell in love out of nowhere to be honest. We were introduced by a mutual friend my freshman year of college, Robert’s senior year. Our mutual friend brought him over to my apartment and I briefly said hi to him while getting ready to go out. We didn’t see each other much until about a year after our first meeting, that’s when we really hit it off! Our mutual friend (Thank you Nick) was coming into town. He called me and asked me to meet up with them. It was a classic college love story from there. We met up in a sticky floor bar and hit it off! The next weekend was Valentine’s Day and I wasn’t expecting anything since we had just met, but he surprised me with a customized shirt with a quote I had said the first night we hung out. At that moment I knew he was special but had no idea how special! We didn’t go on a real date for a few weeks and that was all me. I was too nervous to sit across from him at a table so I was too shy to go to some fancy dinner and asked that our first “date” be takeout in front of his TV with his dog. And that’s exactly what we did! From there I fell pretty quickly for him. He’s the most caring and thoughtful person I have ever met. He showed me from day one how special I am to him and he continues to do so every day! About a year and a half later he surprised me with a weekend getaway where he proposed. It was perfect!

On the use of green as central color:

Hunter green is my favorite color. I am a nature lover and I think that’s partially why green is my favorite color. I love how natural it is and I knew it would be a timeless classic look.

On their looks:

I found my dress while scrolling on pinterest in December 2019 a few weeks after Robert proposed. I actually showed a picture of it to my mother-in-law and said “I think this is my dress, but I know I need to keep an open mind!” I didn’t actually go dress shopping until August of the next year but still loved the dress I had saved on Pinterest. I made myself go to a bridal shop that didn’t have my pinterest dress first, just to make myself try others on. But as soon as I put my dress on at our second stop, I knew it was the one. Since my dress was not very busy, I knew I wanted a fun veil. The woman helping me at the bridal shop brought this beautiful veil out with petals and as soon as I put it on I said yes, this is it!

Robert’s green jacket was selected partially by force..Well, not exactly force, but I really wanted him to wear a hunter green jacket. It took a little bit of convincing but eventually he loved the idea. I had such a vision for our wedding in my mind and he had to be in hunter green. We took a color sample of the bridesmaid dresses to Berlins on King and found an exact match. It was so much fun at that point because Robert got to customize his tux jacket which made it so much more special. I knew I wanted something on the collar that tied in the wedding and I mentioned the idea to the specialist at Berlins. He made a bold move and asked the designer to add “Just Married” on the collar and we loved it.

What was your favorite part of the wedding?

This is such a hard question. It’s not one specific thing, but I think one of my favorite parts was how loved Robert and I felt. I am such an easy going person (at least I think so) and I wanted our wedding day to be just that. Every part of that day fell into place perfectly and it could not have been more fun! I loved getting to see all of our family and friends come together and celebrate us in the way they did. And of course, the band!

I still cannot believe how beautiful everything was. My wedding planners at A Charleston Bride made the venue exactly how I envisioned it! I wanted everything to be in shades of green, flowers everywhere, a timeless look, and they did just that.  I cannot brag enough about how amazing the team of people are that helped put together our wedding day! Robert and I loved every moment of that day and want to thank everyone that made it so special for us!
