The Gifts Your Newly-Engaged Friend Will Get All the Feels Receiving

When your best friend, sister, close cousin, former roomie, etc. gets engaged, it’s an incredibly exciting time. You might even start saying “We’re getting married!!!” whenever you talk or see them, because let’s be honest, bride vibes are magnetizing. The thing to remember here, though, is that while it’s a seriously momentous occasion for your loved one, there’s a fine line between being enthusiastic and helping to motivate them for the big day and being inadvertently pressuresome or just a tad bit overwhelming in the process. You’ll want to keep things fun, friendly, and supportive, because wedding planning is a beast of an undertaking and they’ll be taking care of the tough stuff already.

Here are just a few ways to show the bride-to-be that you’re her hype squad now and right on through her happily ever after.

Be there for all the tears.

And yes, there will be lots of them. Happy ones. Sad ones. Ones out of frustration. Ones out of elation. If anything happens to make your BFF emotional, then make sure she knows you’re there to cry with her, to blot out the worries, and to help her bounce back (even if that just means grabbing some of her latest obsessions from Sephora, dropping them into a cute new makeup bag for the bride, and hand delivering the haul to her house).

Be her planning champion.

With a wedding on the horizon, she’ll inevitably be hustling before you or she knows it — that’s why you’ll want to get familiar with all the things on her growing to-do list and 1) help her find a way to organize it  2) offer to tag in when/if she needs a break and 3) provide advice only when she asks for it. Planning a wedding can incite commentary, unsolicited opinions, etc. from everyone in the bride and her partner’s lives, so instead of complicating matters, try your best not to bombard her with too many ideas and details that might keep her up at night. Bring the coffee in the morning and remind her that you’re ready and raring to go whenever she is!

Be the maven of bride-perfect-moments.

By that, we mean, wherever/whenever there’s an opportunity to make a moment throughout her engagement even more meaningful and special, be the one who seizes it. So, have a bride tumbler (filled with her favorite spa water) waiting for her at her desk the first Monday morning following her proposal. Whip out a faux bouquet when she’s trying things on at her bridal appointment — you know, for that “oh, there’s the bride” effect. And bring some extra glow to all of her bridal shower, bachelorette, and wedding morning festivities. But first, drinks…
