They say sometimes Plan B is better than Plan A – and that’s exactly what happened when Juliana and Michael had to switch their wedding venues (and thus, wedding design), due to COVID-19. This June Sonoma wedding took full advantage of the grounds being in full bloom, and the couple incorporated their East Coast roots throughout the day for the perfect East-Meets-West Coast design! Sophisticated East Coast Nantucket vibes flowed through classic wedding fashion, a specialty cocktail hour featuring Hog Island Oysters shucked on site, and chic blue tones in the reception decor. Airy Northern California nods came into the design via Juliana’s lush organic bouquet, a dreamy al fresco reception dinner under thousands of twinkling lights, and a wine country-appropriate large scale champagne escort wall. This affair was perfectly balanced between the couple’s roots and their venue choice, creating the most beautiful garden fête!
From CMG Weddings & Events… Due to Covid, Juliana and Michael had to switch venues, and thus they had to redesign their wedding as well. But as they say, sometimes Plan B is better than Plan A and that sure was the case here.
The wedding took place at Cornerstone Gardens in Sonoma, CA. Taking place in June, the grounds were in full bloom and CMG Events decided to bring the garden to life in their designs. The ceremony took place on the pond lawn. They selected the garden Mimi chairs from Encore Event Rentals and Flower Girl Em flowered the most beautiful arch and adorned the back of the aisle with growing floral arrangements.
Cocktail Hour was held around the Cornerstone Barn. Cocktail hour featured Hog Island Oyster who shucked oysters on site, a nod at the couple’s East Coast roots. The decided on a cheeky sign that read “It’s about Shucking Time” as a tribute to their postponed wedding. Cocktail Hour also featured adorable custom signage featuring their cats by Roseville Designs and lounge furniture from Encore Event Rentals.
After cocktail hour, guests were invited to the beautiful reception tent on the property. Guests were welcomed with a large scale champagne wall from Luxe Event Rentals, which acted as their escort card and told them what table they were seated at. Guests ooh and ahhed over the display and even took pictures with it as a backdrop. For the dining tables they did an exposed wood table for the head table and dining rounds for guests. They also did garden inspired florals and taper candles. Each guest had a menu with their name attached, acting as their place card, and the color of the name tag represented their meal selection for the catering staff. Beautiful and functional!
Juliana and Michael danced the night away back in the barn under a sea of twinkle lights and chandeliers from Twilight Designs. Though a long journey to their day, well worth it!
