A Whimsical Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa Summer Fresh Wedding!

Drawing inspiration from the beautiful architecture of their venue, Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, today’s darling couple worked with Lindsay of LVL Weddings & Events to create a wedding aesthetic with an emphasis on texture and a tonal palette of blush and terracotta. Oak and Owl completely blew us away at the ceremony, dripping in strings of fresh cut roses. The day wouldn’t have been complete without their “Cat’s Corner” photo booth, a nod to their adorable fur babies – Gus and Frankie! From Brittany Renee Photography… Jules and Max original wedding date was set for August 2020 and they had to patiently wait to August 2021 to have their romantically whimsical Rancho Santa Fe Wedding. The couple and their family had spent many years and special occasions at Rancho Valencia to include the mother of the groom having a photo her husband took of her standing in their hotel the night before she gave birth to Max, the groom. It was not happenstance that they chose the hotel for the most important day of Jules and Max lives.

The couple went for a color palette of blush, pink, taupe, copper and golds with lots of texture. More importantly they wanted to incorporate their sweet cats so we had custom illustrations made of them and placed them on the photo booth (cat’s corner) we called it. We also hand calligraphy ombre place cards and a beautiful welcome sign with the illustration of the venue as a keepsake for the couple.

From the Bride… What started out as a casual date for a sorority mixer, turned out to be the start of our love story almost 9 years ago. After meeting during undergrad in North Carolina, we decided to move to Max’s hometown of San Diego after graduating to start our life together. We got engaged in May 2019 and I quickly started searching for my wedding partner in crime. After finding Lindsay from LVL Weddings, we jumped into planning and decided on the gorgeous Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa as our venue! We had so many fond memories at Rancho Valencia, it was actually where we went to celebrate when we got engaged—and with the beautiful grounds, it was the perfect place!

As with countless other couples, COVID 19 threw a wrench into the mix and we ultimately decided to postpone a full year. It was definitely worth the wait! We had such amazing vendors, and with the postponement, we were able to really dial in the style and aesthetic of the weekend, and pick up more integral vendors along the way! We knew we wanted to create a romantic and whimsical vision, and drawing inspiration from the beautiful features of the venue, we landed on a tonal aesthetic using blushes and terracotas. Of course our special day was not complete without our precious fur babies! It was a blast working with our vendors to incorporate our cats, Gus and Frankie, into the details and it felt like they were with us on our special day!
