From The Star Inside...We had the great joy of traveling to the shores of Santorini to create this editorial, as part of a two-day workshop for photographers run by Rebecca Carpenter Photography. An international team of wedding pros came together to make magic from sunset to sunrise, exploring the sights and sounds of the clifftop towns of Imerovigli and Oia. The aim of the photoshoot was to inspire couples dreaming of having a luxurious, intimate wedding or elopement in a breathtaking, exotic destination – brides and grooms who value travel, privacy, and the authenticity of celebrating their love story in their own way.
The design concept was inspired by Greek myths and legends, with motifs like feathers, golden arrows, and sea-creatures all making their appearance in subtle ways. We brought the story to life through a natural, contemporary color palette echoing that of this captivating part of the world: earthy browns and beiges, rich shades of blue, and sparkling gold details. The floral design and cake details were chosen to mimic the flora of the sea, while the table settings were created to represent the variety of the volcanic landscapes in Santorini: we used a mix of textures like glass, terracotta, marble, silk, and velvet.
We wanted the styling to emphasize, complement, and embrace the beautiful surroundings - for example, the "window" shaped arch backdrop for the ceremony was our way of celebrating the views and sunsets of this incredible island. The accessories and outfits were chosen to have that Mediterranean, Grecian vibe: relaxed, timeless, and gently celestial to pay homage to the gods and mythology of Ancient Greece. We wanted this imagery to be about discovery - about a couple who chooses to fill their elopement day with meaningful luxuries, and plenty of time to breathe in the adventure.
