Inspired by their travel, this Broadway couple chose to say I Do at the Greenpoint Loft, an industrial Brooklyn venue with the coolest vibe! “Raw and untamed, married with soft and romantic,” was how wedding planner Callista & Co. described their day and we couldn’t have said it better! With a large installation of stunning greenery by Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht, the bride and groom tied the knot and danced the night away! Check out all of Rebecca Yale Photography‘s magical photos (as always) and read all about how they met below!
From the Bride…How and when did you meet? December 25th, 2012. Hannah’s mom was doing a show called White Christmas with Shane. On Christmas Day Hannah was skyping with her Mom and met Shane over Skype. They met for the first time in person at an audition in September of 2013. Then another year later Shane messaged Hannah on Facebook to congratulate her on her show, SideShow, that was about to open on Broadway. The two ended up messaging and then texting all night until Hannah asked Shane to go on a date the next night. Shane agreed. The two met the next night Black and White Bar in the East Village. Shane said he almost got off the train twice because he was so nervous, but he made it there, and thank goodness he did. The two said they knew almost instantly that there was something really special between them.
What was your vision for your wedding?…We wanted it to feel like us. We are always surprising each other, traveling and exploring cities across the globe. So that was where the raw and industrial vibe came from. We mixed that with our romanticism and vulnerability we both allow ourselves to feel when we are together and it created this perfect expression of our relationship.
From Callista & Company…In the beginning, it’s my goal to gather as much information about the bride and groom as possible so that I can narrow planning and design decisions for them and make the right suggestions all along the way. We met early on to get to know each other and explore high-level ideas, then we delved into the design with venue walkthroughs, rental showroom visits, and countless conference calls. Our design transformed along the way, but we ended up with a beautiful balance of raw and untamed, married with soft and romantic.
It was a collaborative effort with Hannah and Shane’s friend and ultra-talented florist, Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht of Wild Bloom. Kristen captured Hannah and Shane’s vision so perfectly and completely elevated the Greenpoint Loft space. We chose our tablescape rentals carefully to create a perfectly refined yet stylish setting. Romantic gold-rimmed charger plates were accented by sleek black flatware and stemless glassware. A handmade paper place card with contemporary calligraphy adorned each plate along with a sprig of greenery that felt plucked from the dinner table arrangements. The flowers were lush and textural in the most gorgeous palette, and nude tapers glimmered for guests to dine in candlelight.
From Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht…For Hannah and Shane we wanted to create a floral installation that was as arresting as it was beautiful. Hannah loves greenery so we created a 40-foot long canopy of hanging vines and branches. We then added a suspended arch of crafted of vines to frame Hannah and Shane for the ceremony and then the sweetheart table at the reception.
