Tucked up high in the hills of Santa Barbara is your dream garden wedding destination – and it’s even more gorgeous than it sounds. Today’s styled shoot from Kaleb Norman James showcases the natural beauty of Belmond El Encanto, complete with subtle touches of old world details reminiscent of a charming Italian villa. From Jenny Quicksall… Hidden in the hills just above Santa Barbara is an urban oasis filled with incredible views, lush gardens and even a turtle filled lily pond. This stunning Belmond property set the stage and provided the inspiration for this intimate wedding. =

We wanted the overall design to feel reminiscent of the wisteria covered colonnade surrounding the lily pond given the way everything feels overgrown and organic, while simultaneously feeling very intentional and manicured. The initial concept was to create an overall garden motif inspired from old world frescos found in Italian villas, as represented in all the paper goods, which went as far as to include a custom toile pattern for the event and in the bride’s shoes.

The floral wasn’t overly tailored, feeling reminiscent of the mature garden beds surrounding this property. We kept the details feeling very old world with etched crystal, vintage lace napkins, botanical china and with pewter accents in the candlesticks and napkin rings. Overall the color palette focused on warm neutrals and various shades of green from emerald to mint, all cohesively coming together to create a lush, floral filled design!
