Holiday Hair: A Chic, Twisted Chignon

With the holidays about to head into full swing, having a great hairstyle in your back pocket is a must; especially one like this relaxed, unstuffy version of a chignon from Leah Anderson and A Splendid Occasion. Wear it with jeans or a cocktail dress and it works perfectly each and every time. You know what we say to that? Move over top knot, there’s a new style in town. Grab all the steps captured by Jake Anderson below

It is best to work with day old hair, as it allow for better control. Tease at the crown of the head using the center part to guide.

Use a medium to large wand to add body and texture.

Section from ear to ear, and forward to leave for later steps.

Take back section and pull strait down with some tension.

Begin forming a roll by rolling this section up, until you are at the nape of the neck.

Secure with bobby pins along inner side.

The front section: decide how much you want left loose and hanging near the face.

Twist the hair towards the back roll, securing as you go

Secure the end of the hair, hide the “tail” in the back roll. Secure.

Repeat on opposite side.
