Unique Wedding Lighting Ideas That Will Seriously Impress Your Guests

If you’ve seen enough weddings, you’ll know that lighting can truly transform a space and that a lack of it can leave your reception feeling…well, lackluster. Not only does light serve a purpose of allowing guests to see in the dark, it also creates your reception’s ambiance. If you’re looking for unique wedding lighting ideas that will seriously impress your guests, gather your inspiration below!

Plan for Sunset and a Successful Migration of Guests

Adding beautiful glass lanterns to your space can be done in a way that strategically shows guests where to go for their next event. Plus, during sunset, the glowing light that leads guests from cocktail hour to dinner will be so magical!

Make it Rain

I think these twinkle lights that mimic rain speak for themselves! How dreamy!

Light it Up

For tented weddings, you have so much room to play with unique lighting setups to make the space feel romantic and truly alive! Plus, you can use string lights to cover the poles in the tent from the inside so all guests see is the gorgeous fabric, lighting, and everything beautiful underneath.

Lights in Many Shapes and Sizes

The two weddings below both beautifully lit the space with shaped lights. Not only is that unique, it also further enhances the design of the wedding.

Let Your Lights Frame Your Layout

I can’t not include my own wedding in this roundup. One of my major must haves was a maypole style set of market lights that met in the middle of a round bar. I also wanted smilax to hang from the lights so they wouldn’t look too bare and would provide more romance to the space.

This wedding took a similar concept of framing the space by using twinkle lights. It totally looks like stars!

Lighting Makes a Statement

For these weddings, the lighting elements are larger and thus very much a part of the décor design. They make a beautiful statement while also illuminating the space.

A Spectacular Display of Light

Fireworks totally count as lighting, right? Even though they’re brief, fireworks will light up the sky and your guests’ eyes. There isn’t much more you could do with light to seriously wow your guests than fireworks!
