Today’s gorgeous Kestrel Park affair captured by Joel Serrato and planned by Event of The Season is an instant mood booster. The darling two said “I do” under a lush chuppah decorated in bright pink bougainvillea by Hogue & Co. Later, guests dined family style on one seemingly endless reception table that will quite literally take your breath away, there’s just something about every guest sitting together at one long banquet table that will always amaze us. Head on over to the full gallery for plenty of color pops and miles of inspiration!
From the Bride… Kenichi and I met when we were working together in the hospitality industry and he was my boss (no quid pro quo though…). Our years in together in restaurants thought us a few keys to success – great location, good food, better alcohol. We kept that in mind throughout the entire planning process.
1) Location – In the maximum amount of time one can spend talking about a wedding during a 1. 5 year relationship, I never forgot to mention that I wanted it to be outside. The first step out of the car at Kestrel Park and I told my family to cancel all our other appointments. I was willing to settle on white plastic picnic chairs if that’s what it took to have our wedding there (luckily I didn’t have to).
2) Good food – We centered our dinner around a Spanish term “sobremesa” which refers to the time spent around the table after dinner relaxing, laughing, drinking wine, etc. We wanted everyone to feel like guests at our house during our Sunday night family dinners. That’s where the long table, family style meal with two pasta choices and lots of wine came in.
3) Better alcohol – We thought of everything on this front: pre-ceremony spritz, passed cocktails during cocktail hour, each dedicate to our grandparents who are not longer with us (think, Marty’s Margarita,), so many bars and bartenders that our caterer had to be convinced we would need that many, a dedicated tequila tasting bar with hand selected tequilas by us and late night espresso martinis.
