The second we saw today’s stunning styled shoot from Laura Murray Photography, Gabrielle Hurwitz and Smith + James Events – we were immediately inspired by their refreshing and undeniably chic take on tropical wedding décor. Dried palm leaves in crisp white vases decorated the minimalistic reception table beautifully while the bride STUNNED in a long sleeve Costarellos gown. From Laura Murray… Tory Smith with Smith + James Events, fashion stylist Gabrielle Hurwitz, and I wanted to create a unique concept for an editorial at the Hybrid Co Conference in San Diego earlier this year. We were inspired by the beachside location and envisioned a modern and tropical editorial highlighted by gorgeous fashion.
Tory Smith pulled together the initial mood board with the following inspiration words: high-fashion, minimalistic, and chic. She incorporated monochromatic tropical arrangements, clean lines and natural woods. She kept the color palette mostly neutral, with plans to re-think the popular white and green color combo that so many couples love right now. She wanted to breath new life into that color palette.
When Gabrielle Hurwitz viewed the mood board, she visualized a Palm Springs aesthetic but by the ocean. She pulled a printed Zimmerman gown for a rehearsal look that she felt had a retro, yet romantic vibe to it. And paired it with a high-neck, lace wedding dress by Costarellos with the groom in a pale blue tux by The Black Tux. Plenty of Petals came in with gorgeous floral design. Tory said she wanted a tropical version of the small, chic lily of the valley bouquet and Plenty of Petals came through with a fritallaria masterpiece. The table consisted of a collection of white vessels filled with muted, sage-greens.
