From Alayna Kaye PhotographyThis elopement shoot was inspired by the neutral colors of coconuts, from their green beginning to the creamy inside, and the shades of brown as the husks age. We also played on the colors of the sands, from the typical tan to the pinky peaches that come out in many Caribbean sands.

We wanted to keep the whole setup very simple, while still creating an elegant and whimsical vibe, which is something many brides eloping on a luxurious island beach might hope for. The weather ended up being super cloudy, but this is something very common on a tropical island since evening rain showers are to be expected. Even with the clouds, the warmth of the sand and the lush greens of the palm trees allowed for a gorgeous glow in the photos.

The bride and groom models are newlyweds and island natives who treasure their Caribbean roots and even run a successful Caribbean restaurant in Charlotte Amalie. The coconut grove by the beach is still recovering from the recent hurricane damage, but it had a vibrant, Jurassic Park feel that was a really fun place for portraits. Under the welcomed shade of a mangrove tree, the rum barrel bar setup showed off the frozen Piña coladas with a touch of Caribbean flare . We were all very pleased with how each piece of the shoot came together to create such a sweet and elegant scene on a world-renowned beach lined with coconut trees.
