She’s from Louisiana, he’s from New York… after years of traveling the world together – they decided the perfect spot in between their two hometowns is where they’ll say “I do”! You might recognize the Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina as the Bieber’s famously got hitched there last year – so it’s no surprise we consider it one of the most breathtaking and romantic wedding venues in the country. The bride worked with her amazing planner, Kelli Corn, to create an event that truly reflects the elegance and charm of the South. From driftwood details to a classic South Carolina oyster roast – the results couldn’t have been more amazing. Check out the full gallery to see it all unfold – captured by Josh Morehouse!
From Josh Morehouse… Brian Barfuss and Emily Mourad met in January 2011 when Emily started working at CBS Sports Network in sales & marketing and Brian was working on the finance team. Even though Emily swears she fell in love with Brian the moment she met him, it wasn’t until 2014 that they started dating after being friends for a few years.
Their years of dating were filled with traveling the world to places like Italy, Germany, Paris and Napa Valley and spending their summers in Montauk. In May 2018, Brian proposed to Emily in NYC and after being in love with Brian for seven years, she easily said yes to his proposal.
Emily and Brian knew they wanted a destination wedding where they could host their family and friends for a weekend wedding. With the bride originally from Minden, Louisiana and the groom from Huntington, New York, they picked the perfect location between both of their hometowns – Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina.
Staying true to her Southern roots and showing her New York City friends and Brian’s Northern family a true Southern wedding was important to the bride and her family. Each event centered around Southern elegance, hospitality, and bringing together the “Yankees” and the “Yalls”. The wedding reception decor leaned into the nature of South Carolina with driftwood and oyster details – including a custom created oyster chandelier for above the dance floor and South Carolina oyster roast. Brian and Emily couldn’t imagine a more perfect wedding weekend surrounded by all of their loved ones – the Southerners and the Yankees – and Montage Palmetto Bluff was the perfect location for their Southern elegance wedding.
