Have Your Heart Set on an Elopement but Worried What People May Think? Read This.
From the Bride... Parker and I have never done anything the “normal way.” And when it came to getting married, it was no different. We met at Burning Man in 2016, of all the places to meet, it’s safe to say, neither of us were expecting it. We followed our adventurous week together with perhaps a more conventional first date in Lake Tahoe ... only it lasted a week. It comes as no surprise we’ve been inseparable ever since.
Parker is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. His lightheartedness is magnetic, even contagious. When he enters a room, his presence alone has the power to make people smile bigger and laugh harder. After getting engaged in May 2018 we started entertaining the idea of what our wedding could be. An intimate destination wedding? An audacious, albeit tasteful, party of Gatsby proportion? Or ... go against expectations and do something truly us? And for us.
One of our favorite places for a weekend getaway is Palm Springs. The desert air, the grand sweeping mountains, the mid-century modern architecture – the scene was already set all we had to do was go. And so, for our wedding, we did, just us. Faith of Winsome and Wright took engagement photos for my good friend from college and her now husband, and they were instantly striking to me! I love her aesthetic. Her use of cool tones evokes a light yet romantic feeling. And it couldn’t have been more pleasant working with her.
It was truly a magical weekend for us. We rented a suite, disconnected poolside, did yoga before our rad photo shoot, oh, and got hitched at a courthouse! We enjoyed a celebratory dinner at our favorite restaurant Le Vallauris where Suzanne Somers sent a bottle of champagne to our table but that’s another story …
