From start to finish, this sun drenched garden wedding feels like an absolute dream. It’s truly impossible not to become hypnotized by the whimsical blooms from Myrtle et Olive, ethereal bridesmaids dresses in shades of purple, and charming bunny details at every turn. You can feel the warmth in every capture by Jen Huang Photo and practically smell the heavenly scents coming from their perfume bar (yup, you read that right. A perfume bar.) Honour and Blessing Events truly blew us away with this one, folks. We’re almost at a loss for words. AND…if all of that wasn’t enough, the bride designed the wedding herself through her company Eureka Creative! You’ll just have to see the full gallery and experience it for yourself.
From Honour and Blessing Events… Jackie and Ben got married on the 1001th day of being together and it was magical. Spring weather in Vancouver is always quite unpredictable. Especially in the month of March, it is often filled with wet and rainy days. But on their wedding day, March 23, 2019, the sun came out and we were all blessed with warm sunshine that is so rare for Vancouver in this season. The entire venue was bathed in golden light and it was the final touch for their whimsical wedding. The theme of the wedding is a Fantasy Garden.
Jackie’s dream is having a fancy garden filled with various flowers and plenty of bunnies and dogs playing around. A place where she can lay back and create drawings and paintings. The colour purple was chosen because it’s a bit dramatic and goes along with the fantasy theme. We also add in yellow to balance out the feminine feelings that purple tends to evoke but also to make the colour palette more lively and fashionable. Tying into Jackie’s love for bunnies and the Fantasy garden theme, a custom designed watercolour illustration for the invitation was created and it set the tone for the wedding. As seen in the colours of the invitation, the envelopes, and the monogram design of their initials, there were shades of lavender and plenty of greenery throughout. It also served as the inspiration for the dessert table and complemented the overall decor.
The ceremony took place in the Rose Garden and the reception at the Terrace of Hycroft Manor. The overall setup for the reception was long tables underneath a tent with plenty of soft flowy fabric. Creamy white tablecloths and linens were used to create a clean background for the colours in the centre pieces. Glass candle holders and charger plates were used to compliment the chairs. The cake and desserts were designed to flow with the decor and invitation set. There were plenty of airy butterflies and sugar flowers on the cake and throughout the dessert table. There were various flavours for all the cake/cupcakes/macaron and cookies. Flavours ranged from raspberry and lychee cake to a lavender scented buttercream filled vanilla cake.
All the cookies were hand painted to match the designs on the invitations and some had sugar flowers to create more texture and add to the beautiful designs. As this is a destination wedding for Jackie and Ben, their guests were especially important to them. Having to travel so far for their wedding, they wanted them to have the best experience possible. Jackie and Ben were concerned that their guests might not have any entertainment or activities to do during the cocktail hour, so the perfume bar was created.
A place where guests could test out various scents and create their own personalized perfume. As Jackie is someone who loves aromatherapy, this was the perfect addition to the wedding. In addition to brining home their personalized perfume, guests were also gifted with a box that contains a bottle of Ice wine, handcrafted soap and candle made by the bride. This late afternoon wedding in Spring had all the elements of the fantasy garden that the couple was dreaming of. But to them, the most treasured part of their wedding is having all the important people in their lives celebrating this special day with them.
