It’s not every day, that we barely see any florals on a tablescape…and by barely we mean none at all! But, Greenwood Events brought this Welcome Party to life with ALL of the greenery and I have to say, I love it! What a nice change from soft, fluffy floral arrangements to aged driftwood and an array of different greens. All of this, coupled with long farm-style tables, the perfect chair, and an ocean view gave this couples, guests the ultimate casual, but luxury coastal welcome. Get lost in a sea of green and be sure to check out the full gallery!
From Greenwood Events…Kate & Ross’ guests came from around the globe to celebrate with them for their early June wedding. Therefore, a Welcome Party at their coastal California home seemed like the perfect starting spot for the weekend. Their backyard sits on a bluff directly on the ocean with beautiful views over the water. We designed the event for the 80 guests to feel intimate, thoughtful but casual.
Kate wanted the decor to feel effortless but still luxury, therefore, we went with a theme of herbs, air plants, and different small foliage botanicals for a Coastal Chic look and feel. Driftwood accents, light wood candleholders, and aged terracotta pots adorned the table with the many varieties of botanicals. Wiley Valentine designed the paper for the evening with letterpress herb details. Django Foxtrot entertained throughout the evening as guests enjoyed a beautifully prepared meal by Made by Meg Catering. Champagne flowed as guests enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

We are certainly inspired by new, and interesting locations and venues, so YES, destination weddings are something we are shooting for. More of our interview…
How do you tailor each individual event to each individual couple? We are very detailed and conscience in listening and communicating with our clients. We have procedures set where we make sure we understand how the client wants their wedding to look and feel. Getting to know them as people, what they like, their personal styles, how they decorate their home, their favorite places to travel, their favorite foods, etc. is certainly one way to tailor their event to them specifically.
What have you learned in the years that you’ve been planning weddings that you wish newer planners could know? That working together with the entire vendor team is not only important but integral in the success of the event.
What is the number one piece of advice that you can give brides who are planning their wedding right now? Who perhaps want an Instagram worthy wedding? Find your people. Start with a planner/designer that listens to you and that you are comfortable with. Someone you can really talk to. From there, work with your planner to create a team of vendors that feel right to you and that you feel really get your overall vibe. And lastly, don’t be afraid to add in personal touches that make you unique as a couple. Your guests will love to feel that the event is based on who you are and what will make you special as a married couple.
