A Destination Wedding at Alila Villas Uluwatu Rich with Balinese Culture

There’s nothing we love more than when a bride and groom choose to embrace the local culture of their wedding venue – it makes any wedding design all the more beautiful and special, don’t you agree?! This adorable couple tied the knot at Alila Villas Uluwatu with the help of Luxury Weddings Indonesia on a custom floating stage under a towering tropical arbor by Rose & Willow. The entire day is like a dream – see for yourself through these gorgeous images from Axioo Bali!

From Luxury Weddings Indonesia… Whilst hailing from Taiwan, Angela and Henry wanted their guests to be immersed in the local culture of the country they chose for their wedding, embracing the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia.

They reached out to Luxury Weddings Indonesia because of the company reputation with holding beautiful weddings at the stunning Alila Villas Uluwatu located on the southern cliffs of Bali. The decorator for the wedding, Rose and Willow, helped them to incorporate a lot of Indonesian cultural and traditional elements into the event; sourcing local foliage and flowers, lots of bamboo, rattan furniture and hanging lamps, Balinese umbrellas, hand-woven macrame and Tenun Ikat Jepara, – Javanese batik.

For the wedding ceremony we built a floating stage and ceremony area atop the resort’s central swimming pool, the aisle beginning at reception and continuing all the way to the end of the infinity pool on the cliff edge overlooking the ocean. The white aisle was decorated on either side by acrylic pedestals with glass vases of tropical leaves and baby’s breath. This lead to the altar and the palm leaf and monstera leaves wedding arch.

After the ceremony guests gathered for cocktails in the garden surrounded by big Balinese umbrellas with sofas underneath for them to chill and cover themselves from the heat of the setting sun. We included a photo corner with peacock styled rattan chairs so the guests could have the moment captured forever. For dinner we built 250 square meters of white wooden flooring covered by transparent tent on the lawn of Alila.

The tent was decorated with rattan lamps of various sizes, tropical greeneries and lot of fairy lights. We also hung rattan baskets sourced from a local Balinese market and adorned them with more freshly picked greenery. The guests were seated on wooden bentwood chairs of natural colors alongside tables adorned with centerpieces of intricate local rare white flowers and more greenery. As the sun went down all the lights and torches were lit up and created a beautiful ambience, a day and night in Bali to remember. Captured by Andreas Permadi from Axioo Bali Photography.
