Classic Wedding at Black Swan Lake Private Estate in Calistoga

Raise your hand if you live for a good proposal story?! Well, if you’re raising the roof, then we’ve got a gem for you today. I’m going to let you read it straight from the Bride in her writeup below, but let me just say it involves the Groom disguising their friends as beekeepers and hiring a professional photographer to document the proposal. Thoughtful, check. Adorable, check. Genius, check. If that says anything about how beautiful their wedding day, planned by Bustle Events, turned out then you know you’re in for a treat. Join us right this way for all the goodness captured by Carlie Statsky.

From the Bride… Napa Valley has always been a special place for me and my husband. After dozens of weekend trips to Healdsburg, Sonoma, and Calistoga wine country became even more special when my husband proposed to me one rainy morning at our friends Ranch. It was a surprise engagement and set underneath a giant oak tree that looked over thousands of acres of vineyards. To my surprise my husband had disguised our friends as beekeepers and hired a professional photographer to witness our proposal. Moments after my husband asked me to be his wife our friends, dressed in bee keeper costumes, transcended down a hill with champagne to celebrate with us. Our engagement was simply magical and so special to us both.

We knew without hesitation that we wanted to get married in wine country. It was important to us to make our wedding a unique experience and as magical as our engagement. We fell in love with Black Swan Lake private estate and loved that the owners only had 3 weddings at the property per year. The weeping willows surrounding the lake and gardens sprinkled throughout the property created such natural beauty. We were lucky to find a planner, Erin Taylor from Bustle Events, to help us navigate through the planning process and help us create the wedding of our dreams. Our goal was to use the raw beauty of Black Swan Lake with a juxtaposition of soft colors and a hint of modern design. It was truly a magical day that is hard to put into words.

My father married us and we sped off in my husband’s vintage Shelby Cobra before joining our loved ones to continue the celebrations. Having live music throughout the night was important to us. From a live violinist during our ceremony and cocktail reception, band to dance the night away, and DJ to kick off our silent disco afterparty our wedding day was filled with dancing, laughter, and fun. Each guests escort card was a box of personally selected white props, such as masks, for our guests to put on during our silent disco afterparty (at black swan lake). It was everything we hoped for and more.

From Bustle EventsJohn and Jenna were such a fun couple to design a wedding for. They loved the idea of giving their guests a new experience at each area. We played of the venues natural beauty by utilizing muted tones of nude, dusty rose, white and cream. Black was used as an edgy accent color.

Charlotte from Charlotte & Daughters created the most gorgeous centerpieces with lots of texture and we added in nude color candles for more warmth on the table. The black menus by The Aerialist Press added the sexy. The soft velvet linens felt supremely luxurious and brought a softness to the space.
