A Romantic Sunrise Engagement Session on the Brooklyn Bridge

As Carrie Bradshaw once said… “Year after year, twenty-something women come to New York in search of the two ‘L’s: Labels & Love.” Well, this gorgeous engagement session from Erika Parker Photography is the perfect combination of both! The minute we laid eyes on this stunning dusty blue Carol Hannah gown we were instantly blown away by it’s romantic movement and ethereal style. This dress paired with the iconic location of the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise and there you have it – the most romantic NYC photo shoot ever.

From Erika Parker Photography… The Brooklyn Bridge is an icon in New York City. It’s a remarkable work of architecture. It evokes emotions of nostalgia, romance, but is also very industrial, and urban. Carol Hannah makes beautiful gowns, that flow and have such incredible personalities. They Myrina gown made by Carol Hannah is one of my favorites. I love it because its not traditional, yet is so elegant and ethereal.

The fabric moves in a way that doesn’t seem like its from this Earth. I always see this dress photographed at the beach, or on a beautiful mountain top. These venues absolutely do it justice, but I wanted to show that an urban setting can be equally as spectacular. Not every bride can have a wedding in the mountains or at the beach, and there are a lot of ways to be creative in your own environment.

For years I’ve wanted to do a sunrise shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge, and this shoot was everything I’d hoped it would be. True, we were up at 3am to start hair and make up, but it was oh so worth it. The sun crept up over the bridge, making the sky pink, and slowly warmed into yellow. It was truly an incredible morning. I want couples to be inspired by this shoot, and to realize that they can also do something like this, if it is planned correctly.
