Royal Wedding Inspiration at Chateau de Champlatreux

Spring brides, I know you’re out there—and I can bet you’re in the midst of wedding planning bliss and stress, which come hand in hand. But just for today, let it all go and let yourself drift and daydream with this absolutely stunning inspiration from Alexandra Vonk and Idyll Stories. Inspired by royalty and Rococo paintings, violets, pale pink, lavender, and peach tones are woven throughout for a faux fete that I hope will be a muse for your very own.

From Idyll StoriesThis was the year of royal weddings, so when I decided on France for the editorial, the story I wanted to tell was about a daughter of a modern French queen. The editorial follows the return of the Queen’s daughter, who has taken a break from the royal life off in the countryside. Her home is an 18th century chateau, Château de Champlâtreux, and it had all the elements of a royal abode. One spring morning, the chateau was to host once again notable politicians, poets, and writers but this time for the marriage of the Queen’s daughter.

For this spring wedding, we drew inspiration for our colors from Rococo paintings — violets, pale pink, lavender, and peach tones. We imagined an organic and delicate bouquet for the young bride, as if the bride went to her garden and picked it herself that morning. For the ceremony, we didn’t want to distract the guests focus from the bride and the beautiful setting so we kept it minimal and let the stunning chateau take center stage as the backdrop. As the young bride and her love said their forever “I do”, the celebration moved to an intimate dinner setting behind the chateau where the guests can linger and dine with the view of the majestic park.
