The seaglass blue bridesmaids dresses almost floated away as they held tight to oversized white balloons. The whimsy and fun that Temy and Jonathan brought to their “Beach Formal” wedding at the Ritz Carlton Bacara Santa Barbara Resort wedding was full of color and imagination. With the help of the talented Leanne Elliott of Soliel Events and having Michael and Anna Costa Photography by their sides throughout the entire celebration added the icing on the cupcakes!
Temy and Jonathan met 2. 5 years before their big day. While neither of them knew it, it was the beginning of an endearing love story. At the time, Jonathan was a downtown LA guy. He had spent much of his adult life on the East Coast and didn’t care much for beach towns or walking around in flip flops. Temy was a Westside girl. She loved the beach and could care less for high rises and the bustling city scene. They led different lifestyles, yet their unique but interesting ways drew them closer and allowed them to build on important values that continue to help them grow both individually and together.
On their two-year anniversary, Jonathan asked Temy to a 5 AM date. Temy thought Jonathan was taking her fishing, but little did she know he had another plan. Instead of fishing, they went to her favorite beach. They watched the sunrise and shared a morning picnic. Jonathan presented Temy with a book that chronicled in pictures and words, all that they had accomplished over the past year. At books end, Jonathan went down on one knee and proposed. They celebrated with champagne under the rising sun.
Wedding planning was a bit of a struggle in the beginning. Being the spontaneous and playful one in the relationship, Temy proposed eloping to 3 global destinations with just family. Jonathan longed for a traditional wedding to mark the most significant milestone of his life. It took tireless research and many arguments for the two to compromise and learn how to foster their own team work – a much needed exercise for every soon to be bride and groom!
Temy and Jonathan tied the knot on a beautiful August day at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. They were surrounded by ocean waves, majestic views, a compound of glistening white villas, and loving family and friends. The bride and groom were greeted by live music as they walked down the aisle, cliffside, with the gorgeous Pacific Ocean in the background.
Drinks were flowing as the ceremony ended and guests migrated to the ocean terrace to take in the view. Beach formal was the theme as Ibiza beach lounge music played in the background.
They curated their own coastal wedding experience with Mediterranean flair, embracing touches of vintage decor and fun elements that were absolutely dear to the couple. The guest book was a basketball, inspired by Jonathan’s love and talent for the game. Guests received arabesque tiles handwritten with love by Jonathan’s mother.
As the sun went down, the bridal parties entered setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Together, with family and friends, the bride and groom danced the night away under the stars, wrapping up what was truly the best day of their lives.
