Have the Budget Talk

Did you know that money is the #1 reason for fights between couples? Setting a clear budget for the wedding, and early in the process will help to eliminate overspending or gray areas about who’s paying for what.

Don’t Let the Wedding Takeover

Remember that time, B.E. (before engagement), when you had a social life, hung out with friends and talked about things other than the upcoming wedding? Get back to that. Weddings are amazing and often are one of the best days of your life, but don’t let it completely consume you. Set “no wedding talk” together time and slap a few girls’ nights on the calendar while you’re at it.

Go on Dates, or a Weekend Getaway

Remember to have fun with your one and only. Plan regular date nights, weekend staycations or fun getaway to help clear the stress and get back to what’s most important; you two! Plus any excuse to travel is a good one in our book!

Make Must-Do’s a Little More Fun

Do you want to know the one thing my husband truly loved about wedding planning? The scanner gun when we were registering. I kid you not. Try to have fun with those tasks that might otherwise seem mundane. Make a date of cake tasting (my favorite!), go to town planning your future home with the registry scanner gun and grab your favorite bottle of wine to sip while tackling seating charts.

Communication is Key

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, etc. communicate that to your partner. Checking in with each other, being fully present and truly listening will only make your relationship stronger and is good practice for a lifetime of happiness.
